might be easier going than previous occasions.
the canton authorities with responsibility for security arrangements for the well fed mediocrities are allowing "protesters", where as before they said "we're not allowing protesters". (Its their helvetian way.) You ought remember the logo, it's one of the best ever ever, and you ought remember what happened before if you go.

Dance on!

Swissinfo - The official line-

Swiss Police have said that this year's WEF protests have passed peacefully.
"Police say demonstrations in three Swiss towns ahead of the World Economic Forum (WEF) summit in Davos passed off peacefully on Saturday.

Several hundred anti-globalisation protesters gathered in Delémont, Chur and Winterthur, where a similar event ended in violence last year."
http://www.swissinfo.org/sen/swissinfo.html?siteSect=106&sid=5470363

ATTAC switzerland organisers of "the other DAVOS"
had strongly criticised the authorities decision to ban their event from the centre of Berne for security reasons.

"Global leaders may be grabbing the headlines at the World Economic Forum summit, but the event is also a platform for those who want to change the established order.
Anti-globalisation protesters believe their presence in Davos is crucial for highlighting issues such as corporate responsibility and the needs of developing nations"

Round 2 happened today.
The press describe it as a Cat and Mouse game between Protesters and Police. The Left in Switzerland have condemned the use of oddles of police who were used to "fortress Berne". Berne is a fortress actually, it's a charming city which sits in a river with really old walls, and as a fortress is thought to be like fortress like.
The Swiss gathered from all over the cantons of Switzerland to play Cat and Mouse. The Swiss are unusual amongst the European peoples in that every single male one of them is a highly trained soldier and has taken an oath to protect the neutrality and sovreignty of the Swiss federation of Cantons. A few more of them have taken even more oaths and and are even more trained and as part of heridatary obligations protect the Pope, Da Vinci designed their dress uniforms. When they're using a french general they tie a white ribbon to their halbarts. No halbarts on show today it was mostly their sisters wielding frying pans. The message being "you've messed up Mr Wolfie and Co you're going from the frying pan to Hell" -
The Swiss women are angry it seems.
"sure it's herself again".
Here are some pictures of the Swiss protesting in their country against what was aptly termed the World Egoist Forum-

in this you see some jedi sitting down and some off duty soldiers pretending to be policemen. Swiss policemen spend less time being soldiers than ordinary people oddly enough. Well its not odd its got something to do with security.

LouLou tells us that those 35 arrested were "preventative" and were to be released at 20h00 local time.

Which brings us neatly to the "official version"-
74 preventative arrests for carrying things that could be thrown. Police having now at midnight released everyone.

Most protesters don't have far to go home, Switzerland is a small country, but it speaks many languages and has succesfully protected itself for as long as anyone cares to remember, including looking after everyone's money, making clocks, hosting all the egotists, guarding the Pope, inventing Calvin and drowning Shelley.
(joke).
The corporation with the biggest slice of business done outside its borders is based in Switzerland the food corp Nestle. Which in the XX century would better have been described as the famine corp. But the controlling figures of that regime died recently and the number 2 of the company is due to take over from the CEO at the June share-holders meeting and will unusually combine both jobs for a while. No-one in Nestle stockholder land has been heard complaining too much. Maybe they've gone away.

Now the unusual weather which is heading "our way" has caused alerts all over the high lands and worrying about getting particularly battered /frozen are some of the Austrians who's central heating and neutrality isn't as trustworthy as the Swiss. Which is why they've always kept an eye on them.

On why Globalisation "works" for countries like Switzerland and Ireland and doesn't work for 70% of the global population.
He's a founder of a think-tank, (isn't everyone these days) [I'll think I'll add "founder of a think-tank" to my CV]
His angle is the "legal one".
As long as 70% of the globe's population don't have legal systems based on either anglo-saxon or post romanic or talmudic concepts of ownership, assets, capital or speedy beurocracy, the poor won't become happy business owners.
It's an argument which sounds very clever with people who are happy business owners or think accountants are clever, or value the contribution of lawyers to society or have employees or have more than one room and got all their vaccinations.
So what is Mr de Soto's solution?
Change the legal systems of 70% of the globe's population. Because as long as they're capital systems aren't the same as the Swiss, Irish, American, British, European, Norwegian they just go on getting screwed.
Of course Marcus amongst others pointed out to everyone that many people of the 70% majority of the globes population don't believe in property being extended to genetic material, ideas, indiginous lands and so. Which brings us to the question who do you believe in the fullness of time will be more persuasive?
Hernando de Soto and Ltd Co PLC and his legal liberty thinktank of pharisees making yet more rules?
or Marcus and many others with their charmingly simple rendition of the Bible?

your choice
always was.
