Disobedient Laboratory in EU Summit mobilisations in Sevilla, June 20-22

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Tuesday June 18, 2002 23:28author by Disobedients against the Europe of Capitalauthor email juniodesobediente at hotmail dot comauthor phone 630814235 and 626317001 Report this post to the editors

Disobedient Laboratory in EU Summit mobilisations in Sevilla. Disobedients against the Europe of Capital. Other worlds are possible. Practical proposal to build up a space for gathering and engagement.

A plurality of subjectivities that has been preparing actions and initiatives for the following political events (the counter summit of Sevilla, The Caravan-March of the Social Resistances, the Carnival against Capital, and the generalisation of the General Strike of 20th June). We’ve decide to constitute ourselves as a common space-mechanism, that is an open and organisational framework for these events.

The idea is to try out a way of organising that is particular and creative, that enables us to be composed of local, nationwide and international groups. Plurality with enough affinity as to be able to get together within diversity. As our Italian comrades say, social disobedience as a lever for building up movement and conflict, seeking consensus, widening the connection and the construction of commonality between movements and heterogeneous subjects. A practical union that aims to establish future links, for the quantitative and qualitative increase of the antagonistic social practices that go further than the days of action, protest and demand.

Confluence of trajectories of political action and investigation between different realities. The disobedient laboratory, as a practical experimentation of common objectives, will not only allow different groups to learn, to evolve and to mutate their politics, but also to enrich from other open subjectivities. An experimental space that will enable us to know and acknowledge each other, our common but also diverse trajectories and inquires. To advance whilst asking questions and disobeying.

We are aware that this proposal is ambitious and comes late, but we will be satisfied if only some seeds flourish from this experience.

We want to make visible the social and productive realities that are often hidden and ignored. They are (we are) the invisibles: precarious people, domestic workers, students, immaterial workers, migrants, pensioners, and so on. We aim to transform them (us) in figures that carry the rights and resources that today are being denied to us.

Our way of organising will be based on non-violent direct action, civil disobedience, direct democracy and self organisation. Our proposal is to generate and to promote a form of protest that gives importance to the symbolic production; a true communication guerrilla with a combative and festive character.

The issues that we will hold up are:

-Against the Immigration Law, for the free movement of people.
-Rights for everyone. Basic income now!.
-Stop precariousness. Against the Popular Party's reform of unemployment and workers rights laws.
-Against the LOU (Universities' Law). Another university is possible.
-For the generalisation and widening of the social strike.
-Against the permanent global war.

We are sending this open call to collectives and networks that, from an open perspective, feel in syntony with our project for the next mobilisations, so they can participate in our experiment of disobedience. A practice that attempts to create a more interesting situation and dynamics than what we suspect we are going to find in the next days in Sevilla.

Our proposal for an agenda is as follows:

- On Wednesday 19, the Caravan-March of Social Resistances will arrive in Malaga in its detour around Andalucia. This will focus on the 'feminisation of poverty' and economic precariousness. We are planning a carnival-party-protest which will go through the most representative centres of capitalist globalisation in Malaga.

-On Thursday 20, the day of the General Strike in the Spanish State, we propose 2 options: Many of us will stay in Malaga doing something festive to widen the Strike and to promote the fact that another Strike is possible. Another possibility is to join the Caravan-March of Social Resistances towards Sevilla. The March will stop in Jerez and Algeciras.

-On Friday 21, we are going to join the Caravan-March in Jerez, where there will be a forum of debate on immigration issues. There will also be a presentation of this Summer's No-Border Camp in Strasbourgh. In the afternoon we will arrive in Sevilla where we plan to participate in a mass action and gathering of Disobedients, so that we get to know each other and to exchange experiences and information.

- On Saturday 22, we will all participate in the massive demonstration and decentralised
actions around Sevilla.

Desert domination! Disobey the authority!
The fact that another world is possible or not is a matter upon which our lives depend on. Let's put to work the intelligence of our bodies against authority. Let's think and act so to build up a movement of movements capable of subverting the current state of affairs!

The Collectives and groups directly invited in this call are the listed below, but as this is an open call, anyone else interested in this proposal can be added:
