Get US Warplanes out of Irish Airports

this Friday, 5th Nov @ 6pm, top of Grafton St.

This Friday evening, 5th Nov. between 6pm-7pm at the Stephens Green end of Grafton St, Anti-War campaigners will be rallying supporters in the wake of the re-election of George Bush. Speakers will be addressing Grafton St. on the issue of the war and the military use of Shannon.

Many, both inside and outside America - will greet Bushs victory with despair and anger particularly because of the impending intensification of the illegal war on Iraq. Bush has notably counted Bertie Ahern and the Irish Government among his allies.

Ex UN Weapons Inspector, Scott Ritter has stated that more than 100,000 Iraqi civilians - most of them women and children - have died since the US-led invasion is a profound moral indictment of the US and Britain. He has also pointed to Irelands complicity in this war and bluntly stated that Shannon has become part of the US military conveyor-belt of death. It has been shown that the overwhelming majority of Irish people are at odds with both the war in Iraq and the use of Shannon as a military stopover.

Speakers will also be calling on all those opposed to the use of Shannon by Bushs war machine to get to the protest at Shannon on November 13th. Full details will be distributed on Friday evening. For more information on the Shannon protest go to the home page or see the event listings.

good idea; good cause, but why have IAWM speakers never graced the weekly Speaker's Square with their presence? Is it something to do with the politics of control?

For anyone interested, Speaker's Square takes place every Sunday afternoon from about 2-5. All are welcome to speak, to join in, or just to look on. It reclaims our public space, and belongs to EVERYONE.
