Jane's Lethal Weapons 2004 Conference
Critical Incident Intervention including Less-Lethal
Weapons in War and Peace

Date: Tue 19 - Wed 20 October 2004
Venue: The Berkeley Court Hotel, Dublin, Ireland
Overview

The Jane's 7th Annual Less-Lethal Weapons Conference has been once again developed specifically for today's police and military leaders who must apply force to manage rapidly unfolding operational situations where time is short, the facts are unclear and lives are at stake.

The agencies of law and order, both military and civil, cannot intervene by resorting to the unfettered use of force to manage critical incidents. The guiding principles in determining the appropriate force option are lawfulness, necessity and proportionality. Less-Lethal Weapons as well as conventional weaponry need to be considered by today's police and military leaders when faced with military operations or dealing with policing tasks. These leaders will face harsh criticism and censure if their response was disproportionate to the threat they faced. Choosing the right tactical option at the right time for the right reasons will protect both the individuals and their organisations from criminal proceedings and civil actions.

* Analyse the operational requirements and tactical options employed in successful Critical Incident Interventions
* Examine The latest LLW research, technology and training techniques; and the procedures used to evaluate their effectiveness
* Hear Case studies from practitioners who have used LLWs in the field and the lessons they learnt
* Determine what force is needed and understand selection criteria
* Understand the issues surrounding Human Rights and the medical implications of using LLWs
* Widen your understanding of civil liabilities connected with the use of force and explore concepts for minimal force options
* Discover new technological advances - keep ahead of the competition
* Network with an international group of speakers and delegates who are committed to LLWs
* Find solutions to the Less-Lethal Weapon challenges faced by your organisation.

Who should attend:

This exclusive two day international conference has been specifically created for the following groups:

* Leaders and operational personnel from land, naval and air forces
* Managers from the police service and security organisations
* Technicians involved in science and research fields of LLW
* Industry involved in the production of LLWs, munitions and ancillary equipment
* Government policy makers
* Equipment purchasers
* Academics and medical associations Scientists and Lawyers

The conference programme and other useful information is accessible via the menu on the left. You can also download a copy of the LLW 2004 brochure in pdf format (requires Adobe Arcrobat Reader) by clicking here.

If you have any specific questions regarding the event, please email the event manager, Raf Kotowicz, at [email protected] quoting 'LLW 04 INFO'.
