If European states don't want to be treated as enemies of the US they're going to have to retreat from the war they've been waging on behalf of Washington's old regime and disarm their censorship machines, says N S Lyons.

Trump's art of the deal always has been to ask for everything, judge the point at which the other party has made his final offer and then take what he can get, says Ramesh Thakur. That's what he's doing with Ukraine.

Any conclusions drawn from this meeting?

The link below gives some idea of the WSM's thinking about islam. The article is called "the trouble with islam" and guess what? There's not too much in it in support of killing civilians in the name of god.

The oil rich state of Saudi Arabia has been busy for the past 25 years funding madrassas all over the Arab/Muslim world. The rise of fundamentalist Islam can be directly linked to the proliferation of these schools.

Unfortunately, the new graduates celebrate by tossing mortars and not mortar boards.

Of corse its got to do with Oil. Why do you think the US supplies the Saudis with arms and military expertise? I suppose you never heard of the business links between the Bush family and the Saud family?

Is that the gospel according to St. Michael of Flint? Do all left-wing drongos swallow all that stuff as fact?

You'll be saying 9/11 was a Mossad mission and linking the Chechen baby killers with the CIA next........

The Links between the Bushs and the Sauds are factual. Bush doesnt deny them. Prince Bandar bin Sultan, the Saudi ambassador to the US, who is nicknamed Bandar Bush because of his close links with the president. Despite increasing evidence linking the September 11 atrocity to Saudi militants, Bush still met Prince Bandar for dinner two days later.

Maybe you think "House of Bush, House of Saud" by Ungeris lies as well? Heres what thr Guardian (29/7/04) said about the book:

"The text is solidly enough researched. It does indeed demonstrate convincingly that Bush had a business buddy called Jim Bath back in Houston, Texas, in the 1970s, who in turn acted as fixer and frontman for a pair of rich young Saudis. One of them was a brother of Osama bin Laden, and the other, years later, donated to Osama's Afghan guerrilla war against Soviet Russia.

The book does go on to show too that some Saudi money went into a struggling oil firm, Harken, in which the young Bush was involved. And it does show that the Bin Ladens and all the other rich Saudis holidaying in the US at the time of 9/11, were hustled home in an astonishingly privileged way, probably thanks to the cigar-chomping Prince Bandar, Saudi ambassador to Washington.

The book also documents two important general points. One is that the undeservedly wealthy Saudis have invested an estimated $ 860bn in US companies and purchased US arms worth several hundred billions of dollars.

The other key fact demonstrated is that the Saudi royals have helped preserve their close link with the US by aiding successive administrations in unsavoury plots and plans. These included arming the Nicaraguan contras, covertly arming Saddam in Iraq (in the days when it suited the US to encourage him), and using Saudi conduits to funnel money to the crazed Osama bin Laden himself (ditto)."
"Many western politicians in the 70s, 80s and 90s sought to shake down the Saudis and relieve them of their oil money, either to prop up their local economies or to line their personal pockets. Britain's own Tory cabinet minister Jonathan Aitken was a case in point, and ended up going to jail as a result.

Naturally, this required the turning of a blind eye to the alarming characteristics of Saudi society - for exam ple, its brutality, corruption, despotism, misogyny, fanaticism, hypocrisy, dishonesty and greed. And equally naturally, it is very embarrassing for the likes of George Bush when the consequences of that sort of behaviour blow back in your face. Who would want to advertise it?"

Noel, I'm sure you'll be interested in this:

"Moore eyes up best picture Oscar
Michael Moore plans to enter Fahrenheit 9/11 as best picture, rather than best documentary, at the Academy Awards.
The film, which slams President George W Bush's war on terror, has become the highest grossing documentary. But Moore said he hoped to have the film aired on television before November's presidential election to reach "as many Americans as possible". According to Academy rules, this would invalidate its entry in the documentary category, but not for best film. "

An anti-Bush paper lauding a book which has been hijacked by an anti-Bush charlatan.
That's your affidavit?

Face it, Michael Moore has been found out. It's just the leftist idealogues who refuse to accept their pin-up's a fraud.
