Because bikes are transportation too! Bikes are the cleanest ,healthiest and safest way of getting around the city streets but cycling around Dublin can be a nightmare! We ride to show how much quieter, cleaner, and safer the streets of Dublin would be without so many cars. We want to show that bicycling is a fun and healthy way to get around the city. |

"The DCC are running a Critical Mass on the same date", oh are they? I've never seen a DCC flyer for a CM - I dont think they even like the CM that much because they think there's too many "lefties" on it.
the DCC are too lazy or disorganised to run their own separate rides so they just use the CM. "

em, well I do remember DCC people running CM rides long before the current CM form even existed. Maybe you are just too young to remember or something ;) . They possible have changed tactic and operate in a different manner now.
Flyers are being done and will hopefully have them on this site in pdf on Monday afternoon.
Everyone with email lists and text alerts to put the word out.
Anyone who works in courier service also email me at [email protected] if interested or just get on to your work colleagues.
When the spokes of change start turning anything is possible.
Contact [email protected] to get on monthly reminders about CM.
I know that individual DCC members have been on critical mass cycles since they started, but that DCC as an organisation never took a stance for or against the mass (SWP could learn a lesson there).
There have been cases where they have used CM to make a publicity point and that other people on the mass have felt put out by this so DCC do need to consult with others before deciding routes.
Critical Mass cycles have however gone to Dominic St to support locals protesting for Traffic restrictions and other actions and long may this continue!

Maybe we can have another crap ride to the Dail, or the National Safety Council offices in the middle of nowhere (after 6pm on a Friday when they're both closed), which act as publicity stunts that gain no publicity, and leave the riders at the end feeling bored and used.

starstruck
I am not a member of the Dublin Cycling Campaign and was a bit preturbed by the lack of numbers at the last critical mass.
So instead of sittin on my arse and complaining i decided to get it together and try and get a big one going for the end of this month especially with Car-Free day on the near horizon.
The DCC are running a Critical Mass on the same date and i am sure we can all link up and be a big happy bunch of cyclists.
We will be doing flyers on bikes and a bit of posterin for it so keep your eyes open.
Autonomy is the name of the game so people can bring along whatever they want, colour is a MUST,political or non-political,whatever.
The Critical Mass on the Mayday Weekend was ace and itd be great if we could see another big one around the city streets.
Send out the mailing lists and text alerts and lets see it again!
So spread the word!
