really good to see the photos of the die in on the site
i have video coverage of the black blanket in dublin on friday the 25th and the two lie downs in shannon on the 26th one near dromoland and the other near the airport where we were joined in support by ciaron of pitstop fame
gotta find a powerful puter to edit and download so hopefully they'll be up soon
everything went great but it was a pity that the bushwalkers and black blanket were seperated but that couldn't be foreseen and it worked out cool nonetheless
so some good images coming soon

there was some confusion with the result that all groups were unable to meet up

the grassroots AMBUSH march left the paece camp @ 12 or 1- blankets and black bags were given out to people along march and a piece of radical street theatre pulled together.

we walked to the riot squad line, stayed there a while, turned around and instead of meeting more riot squad at the earlier junction people went en masse over land and got into the industrial? part of shannon warport- then people started to run- riot cops from the junction were running frantically to head us off, eventually they managed, we got a fair bit in, there was a tank/armored personal carrier in there too, we then did the communication action
the street theatre went as follows

-call for a minutes noise

-"president" bush arrived and said "i am here to liberate the country"- at this stage many people fell to the ground and pulled the blankets over themselves, many others lay down too

-a dancing leprachaun of sorts took the megaphone of bush and read out an indictment for his arrest, outlining the reasons (this was actual paper put together by amnesty i think), then asked the crowd "guilty or not guilty"

-during this time DEATH went through the crowd as more people died

-overwhelming cry of "GUILTY"

-some of the dead arose from their sleep, people from the crowd and the leprachaun held bush, who died, his head was taken off, he was put under black blanket and his head left on the blanket

end of street theatre

thanks to all who participated and supported and who traveled to the theatre

augusto boal set up "theatre of the oppressed" in brazil in the 60`s, it was so effective in empowering people that he was arrested and tortured and eventually fled to peru

heres updated link on main feature for bush actions
hope to have feature chagned soon to include this action
if it comes off, as i believe it will, it will be the easiest action to do and also the most effective

i encourage all groups, regardless of internal anti war squabbling, to join in and participate in this action

i will be in dublin at the protest on friday under a banner with black blanket wrtten on it and an image portraying the evolution of man from ape to modern man to man dead under a black blanket. i will be needing participation from many people so if you're up for it please come up to me. oit would really help if you could bring a black sheet of even black plastic bags and if you have extra bring them along too.
the same will be happening in shannon though hopefully on a larger scale.

if you cant come to lahinch, organise a walk at the same time, you decide where how and why
organise a "die in" in your public area

sounds like a really good idea but i'll be too busy trying to stop bush from landing.

Lesson from Mayday: if you sit down on the road then the riot cops will kick you in the face. THEY DONT CARE what you say to them or what you are protesting about, you are a threat to "security" and you'll be arrested or hit with a baton until you leave.

If I remember correctly, during the Reagan visit in 1984 a Ballyporeen farmer made a huge hillside "banner" using white fertilizer bags to mark out a slogan on the hillside over which Reagan's helicopter would have to pass. Any chance it could be done again?
