Bush Visit: Isn't it good to be in the majority camp for once?

category national | anti-war / imperialism | opinion/analysis author Sunday April 18, 2004 17:35author by sloop Report this post to the editors

Majority against US Use of Shannon/ Against Bush Visit

.

***US Use of Shannon***

36% should continue
53% Shouldnt

A Huge Majority

***Majority against Bush Visit ***

50% say shouldnt Go Ahead
40% say it should.

Another Huge majority.

****Commentary****

You have to dig hard at the SBP Polls to get these figures as they cloud the issue by pushing hard at hiding it under the fact that 72% saying economy is dependent on US Goodwill. Thats US goodwill - not Bush good will btw. People can make the distinction even if SBP can't.

Why didn't they ask the simple question - do you support the US Occupation of Iraq?

Probably because it would have shown that the vast majority of the Irish Electorate are opposed to it vehemently including the Fianna Fail Grassroots which is a major reason why their support in the upcoming local/euro elections has plummeted to 32/33% range.

So all hands on deck for the Bush visit. We're the majority (here and in the World) and we have a right to make our feelings known. McDowell and his Armed Police on the street for mayday as a trial run may stop some of us but it sure as hell will not stop all of us

The weaklings are feeling ready to capitulate to Osama Bin Laden, just like the Spanish cowards have done.

Still, it's only a poll, in a months time the figures will very likely be inverted.

Is the quality of trolling on IMC going down?

-The Spanish cowards capitulate to Osama bin Laden-

The Spanish have been the only European Govt to show real backbone and to take heed of what the people want.

They've been brave enough to stand up to US intimidation.
They've shown how to respond to terrorism.
Instead of bombing their nearest Arab neighbours, the Spanish arrested the terrorists.
IF Bush acted like the SPANISH, then he'd have 125,000 troops looking for bin Laden instead of occupying Iraq and allowing it to be pillaged by US corporate piracy.

If Bertie acted like Zapatero then Bush wouldn't be getting the red carpet/brown nose treatment here in June.

Shawnee, if you don't like the fact that the Irish dono't like George Bush or his murderous wars, then I'm sure you'll be out there in June with your "I LUV DUBYA" T-shirt.

hate to burst your bubble, but 50-53% is hardly a huge majority. 50 % isn't even a simple majority.

It is nice that people are actually thinking differently to what the hacks tell them to think. My mother is fairly typical of yer average middle class voter- yet now she is going to give FF/PDs their walking papers, (if the election isn't rigged with those goddamn machines)

She is angry about Shannon, she nows is disgusted by Bertie and she does not want that reprobate Texan contaminating our soil with his presence.

I asked her on the phone the other day " Mam, do you often her people expressing views to the contrary? Reading the Irish papers abroad, you'd think there would be..."

" No,": she says " Nobody would dare!"

So I am glad to see people have the good sense to HATE the right wing contamination that is currently taking place.

Oh, and a lot of Irish journalists seem to be trash. Well done to Indymedia for striking back against the media hoors ( Tynan, et al). They're scum, and they'd be better off working in Amsterdam's red light district...

Generally I don't agree with much that goes on here but I'm definitely taking an active roll in the anti Bush Campaign in June.

Thanks for your precis of your mother's political views - it's hardly a scientific analysis of Irish public opinion though.

Everyone I speak to thinks the FF/PD coalition is the best thing that ever happened to this country. They're all rock-solid Bush supporters too.

What group of people do you hang out with? What social class are you?" Why do yourself and your friends think PD/FF are great? just curios. I'm off to smoke a joint, now,.becfause I can, because I now live in Holland, not in the paedophile infested, greed obseessed, head up the arse society that Ireland has turned into.

I not only got my sources from me ma, but also irish radio, which I can listen to on the internet. And guess what? People hate FF/PD. The End.

( Still wishing cancer on the bastards, though. If you wish for something enough times, it will come through/true)

hi jeff!
great work done to keep the seeds of the garden of the Rastaman of whom we are all children on the market and in the world up the road in the Orange Kingdom.
great eh?
and squatting councils too.

If some of the asholes who supported the bull worshipers and Saudi had smoked more dope like they were told to, we would have less of a planetary mess now.
Anyways, if we have to melt the poles, amsterdam is safe from flooding, pity about Dublin 4, a good deal of big boys might lose their homes, maybe they should have thought about paying the rent, like what is the rent, and to whom it gets paid on a very regular basis. Oh but no, they just went with the cyclops and burnt the fuel, and told us they needed plutonium for the future.

Spoorstrat sent me an "O Winston link railroad photographs of the 1950s!" just think, the 1950s! wasn't it all over in the 40s? seems not.

Anyway, it's always good to find yourself a home. Smoke a spliff for me. Mohomad VI of Morroco is really quite pleased that people are beginning to get the point of commerce and international trade and what his mostly illiterate people actually farm for a living, which is "nice". Let's call him King Nice will we?

were you on an "airforce one plane" for Sept 11?

Usually I cannot undeerstand what the f*ck your on about half the time, but today you have cheered me up by telling me how the cancer that calls itself human might lose property in d4.

I just hope it is true, dude. The sight of Harney or McCreevy drowning cheers me up. I am a bit homicidal thought wise, and the IMC editors have often censured me. Tis cool.

Tis nice too to get yourself writing to me. Feel free to e mail me also, but use English!

In the mean time, I think Nole me tangere is a troll/ Garda. The stats, etc, say that people hate the PDs. ( I'm not gonna bother putting it as PD/FF. PDs rule this country.

Maybe people are happy with their economics. Maybe. Then again, those maybes just don't give a shit about the poor, the sick, etc, as well as glibly by passing our constitution regarding Shannon.

Yea, sure, we'll have more money, and more money, and we'll all be happy in our white washed apartments that go for the3 bargaion price of 400,000 euro. Hell, lets pay a million.

Expensive prices must be a good thing, because it means we are successful! La!la!la! I'm blond, female, and my name is Gwen Halley, and I write for Sindo ( one eyebrow raised to give one the impression that I'm in the 'know'!)

Yep, so I pretty much hate people at the mo. A country that contains people in power who think it alright to leave the homeless homeless and erect a syringe on it's main street, because of conceited ideas about style and millenium bullshit. Only 4 million euro, please, and a retard 'vox pop' to say live on radio "Yeah, iz gud, we nayde a landmerc, y'know"

Dang! I'm worse than you, man.

Anyway, click on my link, scroll down to the grim mp3 sample that is the Transylvanian Legionari movement, and have a nice meditation ( along the lines of marching victoriously over * insert typical Irish poklitico, journo, GRA rep scum here*)

When that gets too much, the lovely Yma Sumac is there on that page aussi, singing "Babalu". Lovely, especially with cocktails, cigars, beautiful Cuban women! Ariba!

While frequent users of this site are not known for their wide-ranging knowledge, I'd still like to point out that Gwen Halley is not blonde. Even slightly.
