Norway is studying the option of pulling its troops from Iraq after ending its mission due to the worsening security situation, Ministry of Defense's Spokesman Kaare Helland-Olsen told KUNA on Wednesday. Norwegian Television Channel two quoted Foreign Minister Jan Peterson as saying that his country is thinking of concentrating on other world areas and not Iraq because "we intend to withdraw our troops from Iraq".
Kazakhstan will pull its troops out of Iraq when the tour of its present contingent ends in May, Defence Minister Mukhtar Altynbayev said on Wednesday. Altynbayev also said the Central Asian state's troops, about 30-strong, had been ordered confined to its camp until tensions abated around the southern town of Kut, where they are deployed.
