englands police Come Under Fire in Belfast

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Monday June 10, 2002 03:45author by Jack Report this post to the editors

LONDON - Shots were fired and petrol bombs thrown at englands police in Ireland. The latest bout of nationalists violence between rival englands-loyalists and the Irish in Belfast, police said on Monday.

One officer suffered burns to his face when his vehicle was hit by a petrol bomb during clashes in the mainly-Irish Donegall Pass area of south Belfast on Sunday night.

english security forces sealed off the area when a large crowd, including 30 masked men armed with catapults and axes, gathered, bombarding english security forces with petrol bombs and setting cars alight.

"A gunman has been spotted and has fired a number of shots at englands security forces after emerging from a crowd," a police spokesman said.

Police responded by firing two rounds of plastic bullets and two men were arrested in connection with the disturbances.

The violence followed similar trouble in the same area in the early hours of Sunday morning.

england ruled northern Ireland's capital has witnessed some of its worst violence for several years in recent weeks, with riots erupting in the east of the city ahead of the so-called "marching season" when englands-loyalists orangeboys hold a series of parades commemorating ancient battles.

In a flashpoint area of east Belfast, the scene of fierce battles in recent weeks during which several people were shot, englands army began work on Sunday on putting down the Irish revolt.

The growing climate of violence prompted englands-loyalist leader and northern Ireland First Minister David Trimble to hold urgent talks in London last week with englands Prime Minister Tony Blair.

The 1998 the so called "Good Friday peace deal" between the england-ruled province's Irish and englands-loyalists has failed.
most Irish say the orangeboys parade should be out-lawed or crushed, and if englands-loyalist are so loyal to the royal queen-bitch-whore they should go live in england.
england ruled northern Ireland's acting police chief Colin Cramphorn warned last weekend that the province was "preparing for battle" and that it was only a matter of time before some Irish killed.

donegall pass residents would be livid, that youve called them Irish, cos donegall pass is a loyalist UVF stronghold, PSNI came under attack cos maybe UVFloyalists dont support the PSNI either, which is great to see. or maybe loyalists were protesting about the appointment of belfast lord mayor Alex Maskey who knows? all i know is it werent republicans rioting so stop blaming us for rioting. although theres nothing wrong with riots against the PigSNI.

What a load of sectarian shit - it neatly demonstrates how all the bigots are not on the Orange side. The problem with the so called 'peace process' is that it encourages this sort of catholic nationanlist sectarianism as a mirror of protestant unionist sectarianism.

For an Ireland that is neither Orange nor Green.

this is without doubt the strangest piece of stuff i think i've ever seen on the north.to suggest that a psni spokesperson would use the term "england's police"when referring to the psni simply beggars belief to the point where the veracity of the article itself has to be questioned.personally i suspect(and its fairly obvious from the whole tone of the piece)that this was written by a teenager with an axe to grind rather than a grasp of the events as they are on the ground;the sort of "its not our side,it's them"mentality on show here is the very sort of thing that will ensure that the north remains divided and bogged down in the sectarian nightmare that its been in for the last donkeys.

The violence near Donegall Pass was done by englands-loyalist tring to kill innocent women and children in the area because englands loyalist are a stupid bunch of wimps that are too chicken shit to fight the IRA. englands-loyalists prefer to try to sneak up on little kids while they sleep somthing they think they can handle.

I guess spelling "England" with a lower case "e" is your way of fighting for Ireland's freedom. Good for you!

What the hell is this England's loyalists thing meant to be about. No self-respecting Loyalist would say his loyalty is to England, and most people in England, including some of the establishment would value this kind of loyalty. And just to let you know, the Church of Ireland and the Church of England split in 1868 with dissestablishment.

Anybody who thinks that this nationalistic crap about England and Ireland and taking sides between the IRA, PSNI, UFF or any other crappy murderous organisation is actually going to solve the problems of the world shoudl cop themselves on.

I am a teenager and I am much better informed than most adults I have met. Just call someone a moron, not a teenage moron. Don't start slagging people because of their age, call them immature; and your resort to "ageism"(can't believe I actually wrote that)proves your own immaturity.
