New York Times blurb on Barcelona action
NYT, 05.11.2003 20:35

Europe: SPAIN: ACTIVISTS SEAL SUBWAYS

Early-morning commuters in Barcelona found 70 subway entrances nailed shut by anti-globalization activists. Pamphlets left at the sealed subway stops throughout the metropolitan area demanded the release of anti-globalization protesters arrested in Salonica, Greece, in June. Two local youths were arrested.

yep, Oriol and Marionina were released later that day, one youth and one young lady.
The Cops charged them with "obstructing a metro" after searching the bye-laws, but really wasn't applicapable. This action was reported in english a while back, and indeed like much in BCN has been copied.
Latex solution and a broken key and the lock you wish to seal.
They managed to get 80 done. (not 70) which effected all lines, and since it was the first morning after the Halloween weekend it was sort of welcomed by a lot of workers.

Since that "dramatic" protest however it must be remembered 700 young people have marched last week, and continuing activist stuff is happening all the time.

We are joining protest against the Athens Olympic bid 2004 with protest against Forum 2004, and this was voted upon by the Paris ESF earlier in the month, the motion carried, so expect to see lts more, and as for the T7 hopefully they'll be on food and out of jail.

But we ·are not· going to forget the Greeks so easily or so soon.

Indymedia.uk are reporting that
"Thessalonika 7 were freed on bail at 4.00 p.m. Greek time, the Council of Deliquencies of Thessaloniki ruled that the Thessaloniki 7 are to be set free!! Our Solidarity with the Seven has worked. Now we demand all of the charges be dropped. Five of the 'Saloniki 7' have been on hungerstrike for between 49 and 66 days in protest against their imprisonment"

Well done to those who fasted at the embassy!!!
