Thinking Globally, Acting Locally Help is needed to raise awareness and support for the sake of those in the developing world who pick, grow and harvest our tea, coffee, bananas etc. Help us make Castlebar a Fairtrade Town. We are delighted to announce that a public meeting is organised for the 4th of december at 8pm in the parish center, church st., castlebar. Guest speakers from Oxfam Ireland and National Organics Ltd will be speaking on the night aswell as that there will be yummy fairtrade tea and coffee being served. Fairtrade really makes a difference to the workers and farmers in the developing world, and by purchasing products with the FAIRTRADE mark you are helping these people rather that lining the pockets of large corporations who fleece these people for their profit only! To become a fairtrade town we need the support of the council and local businesses. from this meeting we hope to raise awareness and support for fairtrade and also form a steering group to actualise these goals. All help and support would be greatly appreciated! Evelyn And Laura. |
