Hist to Host Ingrams

PRESS RELEASE

FOR FURTHER DETAILS CONTACT JOHN MCGUIRK, CHS PRESS SECRETARY, 086 0832011/[email protected]

“Who wants to be a Millionaire” cheats Charles and Diana Ingram will be in Trinity College Dublin tomorrow night for an interview with the College’s Historical Society. The couple, found guilty earlier this year of defrauding the ITV show out of the £1,000,000 top prize in conjunction with fellow contestant Teckwin Whittock, will be interviewed by RTE’s Philip Boucher-Hayes. The event begins at 7.45 and will be held in the Graduate Memorial Building.

Speaking today, College Historical Society Auditor Alison McIntyre expressed her delight at the prospect of hosting the couple. “Obviously the Ingrams story is a unique and fascinating one. I am extremely pleased that they have agreed to join us tomorrow evening, for what will be an enthralling evening. The very public investigation into the Who Wants To Be a Millionaire controversy and the subsequent 'Who Wants to Steal a Million?' documentary have made them two of the most recognisable people on these isles. The awful treatment they received at the hands of the media, the courts and Charles' dismissal from the army have all left their scars. And the opportunity to hear about their extraordinary experiences is sure to be fascinating”.

After the interview there will be a Q&A session with the crowd, and the Ingrams have agreed to take questions from the media.

“The Hist is delighted to be able to host Charles and Diana and I am sure a great night is in prospect for us all” concluded Ms. McIntyre

All media attending this event are requested to be present by 7.45. The Ingrams will be happy to speak to Journalists after the event is over. For further information please contact John McGuirk on 086 0832011, or by email at [email protected].
