International - Event Notice Thursday January 01 1970 Globalise Resistance update Nov 9th - esf report back meeting nov 19th![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The anti-capitalist movement (no global) was out on the streets of Italy last week with two huge strikes over pensions, workers rights and social rights. Meanwhile in Iraq the americans are getting hit by resistance at the level they never expected. The ESF in Paris will be enthused by these movements and we hope that it will represent these movements and call for a untied day of action around europe for social rights and one against the war. Paris will be huge and another step forward for the global anti-capitalist movement. Bertie and FF keep going downwards here ~(whey hey!) and we will have huge potential to unite a lot of forces in building opposition to the EU meetings starting on january. Is the rest of the left in Ireland ever going to wise up to the muppets. They are a cancer!
Are the SWP really planning to substitute Brid Smith onto the platform at the ESF? Who is she speaking on behalf of?
Mail received from a mate who is on the ESF list and this was sent out by Rory. Very amusing!!!
What a shower of pricks. The spelling mistakes are Rory's.
"hello, mick o rielly cannot speak at the ESf and neither can brendan ogle or bill mcamley, so Brid Smith who is a member of the same union as a mick o rielly was proposed to speak and is going over ..unless anyone can suggest anyone else to speak.

"creation of 'another europe is possible alliance'- we think there should be a big public meeting in the first week in december to launch the alliance that will mobilise against the meetings of the EU and invite every group and individual that is interested in helping to build an alliance to mobilise thousands to protest come along." Has the SWP contacted any other groups about this proposition to form _the_ alliance that will mobilise against the meetings of the EU? Will they have an input into the organisation of the meeting (agenda, speakers, name of alliance, etc) or will they be merely invited to a meeting where the SWP has decided all of these things in advance? The fact that the SWP has already apparently picked the name of the putative alliance, allied with their consistent history of undemocratic front-building leads me to think that the second option is the more likely one. So it seems that we're to have yet another SWP front. If so, I'd suggest that everybody else avoids it like the plague and tries to build something real (the ISF meeting that happened last Saturday could be the genisis of the thing).
what is an anti-capitalist movement (no global)?
this is a genuine question: is your main aim at the esf to get an international day of action & what form should that take given the lack of effect of millions marching worldwide on feb 15th?
it was a great march in dublin cos it brought people who wouldn't normally march together & who don't normally protest into the streets and it was great to see worldwide simultaneous dissent but in terms of having an effect on the war machine or neoliberalism in general seems like it'll take a lot more than marching along an agreed route on one day & listening to speeches. so what exactly are you proposing? no borders demos, direct action, creative & colourful protest, ongoing actions, networking between groups & campaigns, lobbying, etc?
