Ideas And Action
Direct action after the anti-war protests. Anarchism or Marxism? Come along and hear the debates this Saturday in Cork
Ideas and Action is an ongoing event organised by the Workers Solidarity Movement to promote debate and discussion on anarchist ideas and political activity. This October we will be hosting an afternoon of meetings between 1 and 5 pm at the Metropole Hotel in Cork.

The Tactic of Direct Action 1- 3 pm
The protests at Shannon Airport to stop the US build up for its war in Iraq saw the widespread use of the tactic of Direct Action. How well did this work and what were the pitfalls? Alan McSimoin (WSM) and Ciaron O'Reilly (Pitstop Ploughshares) look at the issues.

Anarchism Or Marxism? 3-30 - 5 pm
The emergence of the anti-globalisation movement has precipitated a new wave of activism and discussion on the overthrow of capititalism. Anarchist and marxist ideas have been at the centre of all this. But where do the two 'isms' differ and why? What can they offer the new anti-capitalist movement? A debate to be kicked off by
speakers from the WSM and the Socialist Workers Party.

Anarchist books, papers and magazines on sale.
