Wednesday October 01, 2003 10:32 by Bin bot - anti-bin tax campaign
Biggest turnout yet for Finglas blockade 30 protestors have been blockading a bin truck in south Finglas for the last while. This is the biggest turnout so far in the Finglas area and is in one of the strongest area for the campaign there. The blockade is completely peaceful and non-confrontational. The council official arrived and told the protestors that he would have to call the police. They are expected to arrive shortly.

The council official has started throwing threats of fines around which has mainly had the effect of getting people's backs up. A core of 15 or so protestors are resolved to stay in front of the truck and give their names to the police. This blockade could go on for a while.
Good luck to all involved.
We need to keep the trucks in the CIty area for as long as possible for days if needs be. Don't make the mistakes the FIngal campaign made on the first day, if you have the people and the support KEEP THE TRUCK
if the the anti-bin taxers are not ont intimidated by threats of jail why do most of them apologise to the judge so as not to put there?
surely someone going to jail who blockade a truck from their area would bring things to a head?
People apoligise for various reasons non of which is because they are genuinly apologising. SOme people just can't afford to go to prison as it would result in the losing of their job or their childern being left alone. It's very easy for you to sit at your keyboaqrd and have a go off those that are actually involved in struggle by claiming they are in some way not committed for apologising. I bet you you would shit yourself at the mere thought of blocking a bin truck.
In the last hour the police have got involved. After reading out the injunction the police threatened to arrest anybody who continued the blockade. The protestors countered by saying that it is a peaceful protest and that the high court refused the attatchment last Wednesday to the city council, meaning that people could not be arrested. The police seem to have accepted this and instead of arresting people, they took names. About 20 people put their names forward. The police have now left and the truck continues to be blockaded.
so i cna sit here and ask them why they are apologising if "they" claim they won;t
Great work an example to the rest of us
