Jump To Comment: 1 2 3 4Just like to point out at the Dundrum meeting that Melisa Halpin who is a member of the SWP in the area and local contact for the campaign in the Dundrum area also spoke from the table along with Lisa Maher, secretary of the campaign. She basically highlighted the contrast of treatment of the Socialist Party representatives with TD’s like Liam Lawlor etc and the issue of the PAYE tax burden etc. This was a large and angry meeting for the area showing that the local activists have done well in the area to keep the campaign going now for nearly 5 years. This follows a meeting of nearly 100 people in Ballinteer the previous week,
Thanks.
Sorry about that I just lifted Terry's report straight from the web site - wasn't there my self
Any report from the shankill meeting ?
Conor
At the Dundrum meeting someone asked Lisa Maher why, there had been so few posters up in their particular area advertising the meeting.
She replied that she was harrassed and followed around the area by a Litter Warden and that as she put up posters, this guy pulled them down.
The Litter Wardens work for the council. To me, it is obvious that the Council are feeling the heat and have put the pressure on the Litter Warden to directly interfere with the campaign by using these techniques (besides the other mis-truths they put out).
This sort of activity represents the denial of civil liberties, in particular those for the Freedom of Speech and Assembly.
Good job there were no litter wardens in Petrograd in 1917!
