I have just travelled to Castletownbere and found it deserted of locals and tourists but full of very young US navy ratings in civvies. Glengariff was full of them too and they were congregating at the junction of the Castletown/Kenmare Road shouting "Hey Bud , they're giving out free beer".

Locals seem to be giving them a wide birth except for Army Rangers in unmarked civilian type fourwheel drives and branch in selected windows on the two approach roads. Not one local teenager on the streets! Very heavy athmosphere.

There are a lot of activities planned for this weekend involving the yanks. They are to play the French navy on the Castletown soccer pitch tomorrow and Sunday they are to be at an exhibition game in their honour in Adrigole. Tonight selected officers dine in Joe Walshes house outside Glengariff.

About a half mile out of Glengariff, on the Castletownbere Road there is a left turn down a dirt lane exactly opposite "Downeys campsite": this is where some of the officers are being wined and dined in the second(or is it third) home of Minister Joe Walshe. It's worth a look if your passing and it is on a public road. There is a right of way you can walk to the strand where I see and Irish (Aoife?)navy ship anchored.

An O'Keeffe neighbour of Joes is the former Spanish Consulate. This might explain why Joe was so honoured by the Spanish "King" with the Grand Cross recently - for service to Spanish agriculture! When I was on the public road there this evening another man who identified himself as "Joe O'Keeffe" told me to "get to fuck off his land". Don't know if he's any relation of the other O'Keeffe or the other Joe , but we'll dig around a bit now that he's introduced himself like the "gentleman" he isn't .

The five Sullivan brothers who were in fact from Iowa and not west Cork. There is no link between their ancestors in the US and west Cork except the name Sullivan. On the assumption that a name like Sullivan MUST come from west Cork because it is a local name the US propaganda dept spotted an oppertunity to have an event on an island off the west Cork coast where they feel safe from protestors. I think it's a Kerry name and "O'Sullivan" is the west Cork version, except when held by descendents of "Soupers" who dropped the "O" in Famine times to join the society of the British.

It is like all the US military spouts these days, simply lies and propaganda. Isn't Senor Joe Walshe in good company ? Hasta la vista!

Friday 29th August

4.30 p.m A reception for the Captains and Officers of the naval ships will take place in Glengarriff .

7.00 p.m. Walkers will arrive into Glengarriff and Cyclists who have travelled over 300 miles from Leitrim to Beara, a reception will be held in the village and a barbecue and music will entertain the crowd well into the night.

Saturday 30th August

8.30 a.m. A walk and a cycle to Roosk Trafrask, Adrigole will take place, the naval ships, yachts and fishing boats will form a flotilla in the bay and will anchor off Roosk where a commemoration will take place of the 5 O'Sullivan Brothers; Albert, Madison, Abel Joseph Eugene, Francis Henry, and George Thomas, who were lost at sea serving with the US Navy in the 2nd World War. The location of the commemoration is the Parish where the ancestors of the 5 O'Sullivan Brothers left in 1850 to seek opportunities in the USA. The plaque will be unveiled by Kelly Sullivan Loughren who is the granddaughter of the Albert O'Sullivan who died in this tragic event.


11.45 a.m. A short walk to where the original house of the O'Sullivan family was, will take place. A plaque to the ancestors of the 5 O'Sullivan brothers will be unveiled. Refreshments and lunch will be served in the village.


2.45 p.m. An event will take place on Bere Island where the flotilla of ships continue their voyage into Berehaven Harbour. The large crowd will continue their trip by car, bus and ferry to the island. An official opening of the refurbished Mortello Tower will take place. Talks will be given of the importance of Berehaven Harbour and Bantry Bay from 1796 to the present day.

From 4-6 p.m. Refreshments and entertainment will take place in Rerrin Village, Bere Island.

4pm. There will be a lifesaving exercise involving a helicopter from Shannon and Castletownbere Lifeboat.

8.30 p.m. till late A banquet will be hosted in Cametringane Hotel, Castletownbere.



Sunday 31st August

9.45 a.m. A cycle and walk will take place from Adrigole to Castletownbere arriving at 11.45am. A statue of Tim Harrington, Lord Mayor of Dublin in the early 1900's who was born in Castletownbere will be unveiled. The group will visit the "Call of the Sea" - Marine Heritage Centre for talks on the centre and Smuggling throughout the Centuries.

From 4.00 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. A Gaelic Football Match will take place in Eyeries followed by an American, European Naval Soccer Match. Prize giving will take place in Eyeries Village at 5:45 p.m.

Music and Entertainment will take place in Eyeries and Castletownbere late into the night.


Beara tourism seem to confuse the names Sullivan and O'Sullivan for reasons of pretending a genealogical link exists between these Iowa men and Castletownbere, let alone a specific "ancestral home" on the island. They also confuse a "world war two" ship with it's newly constructed namesake possibly to hide it's very recent murder campaigns .

Sorry James ,wrong again.Do look up US naval history if you want to be taken as semi beliveable. In the US navy a ships name is inheritable. IE the Sullivans,is passed from a destroyer to its sucessor.Like Enterprise,there have been eight enterprises in the US navy,and will proably be seven more if you watch Startrek.Marvellous programme.Exploring strange new worlds.Like the one that exists in James mac Kenna's head.

Lt Col John M O'Sullvan, the US defence attache who was spotted at Shannon last winter confronting and photographing protestors was himself being photographed today.

As I passed Adrigole where US navy personnel were having a pint or ten at a roadside pub after their footy game , I came to "Thadys" pub and pulled in to snap a couple of pictures of the scenery beside a 92D Volvo estate . There I saw the uniform of the US Defence Attache hanging up in the back. I'll publish some pictures later but they are on film and are now on their way to be developed. Sure enough the Attache himself was having a drink outside Thadys with some young officers so I snapped one or two of him to let him know what it feels like to be watched and photographed. Hey, if he has nothing to hide...right!

I had barely snapped a couple of interesting pictures of this marvellous nazi type uniform and all it's badges and things when one of my shots was blocked with a 99D car ....you guessed it! But when I refocused on this car and its two male occupants it sped off. It was interesting to see the selection of cars that shadowed me in and out of Castletownbere after that!

The navy ratings collect in seperate groups depending on race. White guys together and black guys together,.... way down the street. Officers (all white, that I saw) were in the better places, like hotels, and didn't mix with either the coloured or white "trash". The US navy like to make heroes of dead sailors to boost recruitment and propaganda but treat living ones like people would, who are bred to believe in their own superiority.

The Sullivans destroyer was built in the 1990's not in the second world war as suggested on the Beara tourism page.

The grandfather of JFK was on record as having entered the US on a ship fro New Ross. This is documented. They are of definite Irish origin. When JFK came to the area on a visit he never went to a specific "ancestral home" and claimed that was where his people came from like these "Sullivan" liars did this weekend in Beara.

They may just as well have come from Kerry if their grandfathers name was even "Sullivan". Sometimes criminals who moved from Europe to the colonies would avoid immigrant society, where they would be know, by settling in remote places like Iowa and changing their names. Unless you can show me clear genealogical proof these US navy killers may just as well be the descendants of a candlemaker called Williams from Gloustershire who killed a vicar and ended up taking an Irish name in faraway America!

The Sullivan brothers were young men who joined the U.S. Navy to fight the aggression of the Japanese Imperialist in league with the Hitler and Mussolini who conspired to put the world under the jackboot of totalitarianism.
They fought together aboard the U.S.S. Juneau torpedoed by the Japanese in the Battle of Guadalcanal, th pivotal battle of the Pacific which marked the turning point for the Japs.
They died as they lived as brothers in arms fighting evil which threatened to engulf the entire world.
The attitudes of you people make me sick. Each of the five brothers epitomised the courage, moral fibre and self sacrifice of a whole generation who volunteered everything for the cause of right.
How about reading your history and discover the life history of the Allied statesmen and generals? How about reading the accounts of the men who fought the battles of world war 2? The men who fought in Gaudalcanal, Leyte Gulf, Midway, Iwo Jima, D-Day, the Bulge, Remagen, Market Garden, Stalingrad and Kursk deserve awe respect and gratitude. Only for those brave young men and mere kids the Nazis, Fascists, Imperialist Japanese would rule us still.

At last weeks commeration in West Cork to celebrate "The Fighting Sullivans" the US spy seen photographing protestors at Shannon airport last winter, Defence Attache John M O' Sullivan was sporting his best nazi uniform and not the imitation Garda luminous jacket, as outside Shannon - hope you enjoy "Gunman"/"Seanin"
Here it is hanging up in the back of his car outside Thadys pub near Adrigole west cork Saturday afternoon.

On the down side , my life has been hell since I took these pictures with constant and unbelievable intense surveillance. It is hard to believe there are little children and old people dying for want of an operation when these thugs will mount a massive operation simply to intimidate and bully vocal anti-war activists.

Of course had I been a "terrist" this would be a case of bolting the door after the horse has bolted. Instead it is intimidation and political harassment pure and simple. I have many of the cars and faces on film and they will be with the minister for justice, the defence department and the Taoiseach very soon.

Its also a fucked up little world that we inhabit when the population of Ireland, give or take, (3 million people) die of aids in the developing world every year (25 million on record so far) when much of it is preventable except the huge pharmaceutical companies are blocking the imports of generic drugs - and western governments do feck all to over rule this, but rather bow to their dollars.

Sorry . I couldn't see the quality of the pictures until they were published and they are very blurred but I have the originals and will redo them with some professional assistance tomorrow. They don't prove much is right except I was there and so was the "O'Sullivan".

As for proof that I am being harassed - i have four rolls of film (clear) of faces and cars who have closely and intensely followed me since last Saturday. To publish these may be a "terrist" offence as it would be "collecting information usefull to terrists", perhaps, I don't know? I am however "collecting it" for the authorities themselves to deny or act on. I intend to ask the bosses of these thugs if they have any reason to interview me and if they would like to do so. My own thought is that this is political harassment authorised perhaps ordered by Joe Walshe ,of the Grand Cross of Spain, who must be very annoyed I was "harassing" his wonderful US guests, and of course his neighbour Joe O'Keeffe, who told me to "F!#k off".

Perhaps it is the work of some other paranoid department like McDrools , who would, like Seanin and Lone Gunman like to silence dissent of their fascist regime on Indymedia and elsewhere.

There was nobody else on the quay at Castletownbere when I was there making my protest so I guess this is how they gang up on sole-protestors, when there is no movement behind them.

I complained to the Department of Foreign affairs about "O'Sullivan" spying at Shannon last winter when it happened but they only acknowledged my letter last month after continual phone calls. They made my complaint known to the US Embassy , they said. The US Defence Attaches job does not include impersonating a Garda and photographing and interviewing anti-war protestors.

Among the cars that have followed me have been british registered vehicles and Irish car rentals, some of which contain people with american accents! One such car was a silver Volkswagen Pole 03D 33202 that turned four times in order to follow me. It's occupants, US male/female, followed me in and out of a shop in Glengariff and on towards Kenmare until I turned the fifth time and they gave up to be replaced by an Irish car.

I have fifteen reg numbers from today alone and as many more at least on film. Following and turning to follow again and again when I turn. One car dropping off and another car taking over. In a built up area you might not notice this but where I live they really stick out. Even neighbours wonder, "what is going on"?

With unlimited resources stolen from Hospitals and schools they can run a fleet of surveillance vehicles when they want to harass someone.

W.r.t. the prior poster I think that JMcK's point is that when he was waltzing about down at Shannon with his videocamera attempting to get pictures (an American spying in Ireland) he was wearing a pseudo-garda reflective vest (who gave it to him? Brave young men who would not have been aware of the advance knowledge the US intelligence services had of a japanese attack, who would not have been aware of the economic necessity for a war economy to rescue americas elite from the great equalizer that is economic depression.

Brave young men whos unwitting sacrifice saved hundreds, maybe thousands more young men from the horror that was vietnam, another war of economic necessity. The outrage generated accross america by the death of all five male members of one family led to a law which prevented two members of one family serving in the same theater of war.

Brave young men whos unwitting sacrifice lead to those who knew better volenteering for a second stint in the 'nam to keep younger family members from being sent into hell if they came home.

The memory of these brave young men has been ill-served by the acts of propaganda being carried out in their name. The memory of all those, brave young men or otherwise, who have died in half a century of american economic imperial necessity is equally ill-served by the propagandists cries for yet more slaughter in their names.

The fighting sullivans gave their lives in the belief that all men would be free. Their propagandist masters gave nothing except a safe haven to those who would oppress in service of the ideology of dollars.

All in all a bit confusing and I am trying to get this straight.
It would make sense and be protocol for the officer to be wearing his dress uniform for this ceremony.So what is the big secret or problem?
Just having a look at James previous posts on this .First it was 99D car regs who fled when a camera was pointed at them.Now it is an 03 reg,[that is checkable by those in the know.]That follow him the length of Cork.So that means they have your car No as well Jamesie! Which means that if they are worried about you ,you should be getting an intresting visit from the SB boys for a friendly chat or somone more sinister.
If I were you I would give up driving for awhile.But if you must,check your wheel nuts,and brake lines alot. Be careful of people with umbrellas and rolled up newspapers. Make plenty of copies of your pics and store them at different locations with different people,and inform them that if they dont hear from you within 24 hours .They are to mail your files to all major media outlets. Be careful in the shower or bath as well.Lots of accidents in the bathroom are actually assinations.Watch out for large lorries as well.Favourite CIA assination tool for hit and runs.All in all Jamesie if you have pissed them enough.They will get you no matter what.

Just for protesting against the war and taking an interest in current affairs,daring to photograph a foreign military man who was photographing me when I was peacefully protesting. If our protest had worked and the war had been stopped how many thousands of lives would have been saved? How many billions of US dollars? US soldiers? Were we wrong ?

I suppose we will see how far to the right and how much under US control out little state is at present.

Being followed and watched is no picnic. I can hardly eat or sleep and if they are going to kill me then they should do it soon, and see if I care, it could not be worse than this.

My representations to politicians have not been replied to except for a Sinn Fein councellor who recommended going , with a solicitor , to the police. Others say this is useless. People have advised me to keep a record of the cars and faces that have been following me , so this I have done. It may as you say be US agencies and/or others, I don't even know!

If I am suspected of something then I am more than willing to explain myself and clear my name. If it is just a case of harassment or revenge, I guess there is not much I can do except enjoy my last few days of life or freedom, depending on the method and measure of their hatred.

I really cant say I have any sympathy for you.
You should have known the risks about going into the world of"peaceful protest" and starting a brave new world, not to mind pointing cameras at security personel both domestic and foregin. For all they know you could be an Al Quieda sympathiser planning a hit. Maybe you are?

Well,if you do survive the next few days,which you will because they dont hit straight away,couple of months perhaps when you have dropped your gaurd. You might want to reconsider your peacenik activities.[Thats if you really want to stay upright and taking nourishment.] if you want to keep on doing protest work I would suggest a deep thought on consequences and martydom for a cause.You are proably in the SB file as one to keep watch on PERMANTLY.
BTW it is pointless going to politicos like SF[p[olitical IRA].They are not going to get involved,what?And piss off the US more.Where do you think their war money comes from?the other lot,well is your mommy or Doddy well in in political circles ?
My suggestion to stay alive is now to drop off everything to do with the anti American campain and live a VERY quiet life.Take up shoelace collecting or somthing like that.
