Africa - How the West destroyed a continent Liberia, Rwanda, Congo, Zimbabwe - the list of African countries blighted by civil war, famine, poverty periodically hits the headlines. Their problems are portrayed as self inflicted usually with a hint of racist overtones. What is never offered is any explanation of such devastation namely how the West colonised the continent, set in place ethnic rivalries and armed dictatorships. Even after 'granting independence' the West continues to use the discipline of the market, the arms trade and covert & overt military intervention to dominate their economies. Through the IMF, WTO and the World Bank - privatisation and structural adjustment programmes are the only medicine on offer to this resource rich area. |

the smaller brain size , the cannibalism . I suppose the white man is to blame for for africans being genetically backwards then also?
There's no correlation between brain size and IQ, or between brain size and skin colour. The genetic differences between the 'races' are miniscule, far smaller than the differences _within_ a race. (Exhibit A - the previous poster)
Cannibalism is practiced very infrequently in any culture, and there's no correlation between skin colour and the practice.
Is there anyone out there stupid enough to believe that kind of crap?
Yep there is, it's the 'master' race. To be a member of this master race you have to be smart enough to ignore scientific evidence and replace it with blind prejudice.
They are living refutations of their theories.
That idiotic reply should be deleted. It is quite clearly racist and surely this is not what indymedia is about? Or are you happy to defend this person's freedom of speech???
The link above is the newly established website for the SWP in N Ireland. In the time ahead photos of many of the previous actions and activities we have initiated or been involved in will be put up. Such as the Campaign against selection march, Falls Shankill march, Feb 15th including w/belfast feeder march, GR anti capitalists actions in Belfast on May Day, Freedom for Palestine rallies etc. Contact details of branches and upcoming events amongst other things will be detailed also. There are photos on at the minute of day X in Belfast of the Schools Against War {SAW }feeder marches and civil dis obedience outside city hall before marching upon the US consul.
One way of dealing with the comment would be to delete it (and maybe another editor would do just that, and I might do it myself on another day).
Another way of dealing with it is to point out how stupid and wrong it is, and I think that's been done.
deleting is ignoring. Its as shocking as it is laughable that people are capable of being that ignorant. I would like to hear more from the person who wrote it (if they are capable of stringing a full sentence together) to see if they can prove or justify their stupidity.
The common thread I find among racists is ignorance and delusion. The large percentange are ignorant whereas those who should know better are delusional.
the poster with the IQ of 67 and the attendant display of racism is probably just some bored little fool that is ignored unless they do something naughty (like sticking out their tongue or posting racist comments). "Debunking" can be an interesting exercise if there's a chance that the poster believes (at least in part) their "provocative" "opinion" and can also provide a good laugh, but in general I'd argue for deleting boring twaddle like this.
Marxists believe that all the wealth assets and property should be divided among all the citizens of the world equally so ending all problems, differences and emnities between all people since as the theory goes these are just constructs introduced by the dominant exploitative class.
Am I right?
So let's imagine if in Ireland the victorious Marxist revolution confiscated all the wealth and property of the nation in order to distribute it equally to all its citizens. Nobody would have more authority or wealth or have an advantage over anybody else. Any profits from any activity would be governed by rules that would mean that that profit would be distributed equally.
Suppose a man who studied business in university and by hardwork and application becomes a successful business man, investing his money in a commericial idea and increasing his wealth? This man will have that wealth taken from him against his will had given to a man who say did not apply himself, did not seek to become educated and did not come up with an idead to make himself wealthy or else a man who went to university and despiter applying himseld was just not lucky enough to be able to compete with his peer.
This seems fair? Maybe. Is it sustainable? Let's see.
The first man who has his wealth taken from him and distributed to his peers will feel sore. He will ask himself why should he bother working harder as any profit he will make will be considered a disadvantage to his peers, taken from him and given to those he may begin to feel are "robbing" him. The less successful or slovenly will see that they do not have to work harder as the hardest working citizens will provide for them.
The result is stagnation and lack of growth in the economy. What would be the point in working harder, training oneself in new skills, inventing, making innovations or improvements if one's efforts are not rewarded? Each man will be equal?
The leaders of Marxists societies have always enriched themselves, set up police states and oppressed the masses thay claim to be acting in the best interests of. They have quickly seen the absolute power they have attained over every facet of society. Man being a selfish creature given absolute power he will seek to maintain it.
That is why when Marxism was used in the Soviet Union, Cuba, China, North Korea, Cambodia, Vietnam and especially in Africa it led to poverty, police states, extreme militarism and lust for power.
Laissez Faire politics and ecomomics may not be fair but it reflects the reality of human being's endeavours to enrich themselves and resulted in just societies in the U.S. and in the Europe. Everyman is given the freedom to live as he pleases. Let's give Africa the chance.
