Burma's abuse of its people: Free Aung San Suu Kyi

category international | miscellaneous | news report author Tuesday August 26, 2003 09:42author by Kyaw S Win - Burmese playwrightauthor email SPOTLIT at HOTMAIL dot COM Report this post to the editors

Burma, as usual, remains the abusive, sexist and closed-minded in gentle Southeast Asia which is rapidly taken-over by soul-lost and messed up China. The cruel Military Intelligence chief is now Burma's new Prime Minister. We must fight the evil forces and free Aung San Suu Kyi and NLD leaders.

Burma’s Abuse of its People and FREE NATIONAL LEAGUE FOR DEMOCRACY MEMBERS!

Burma, as usual, remains the abusive, sexist and closed-minded in gentle Southeast Asia which is rapidly taken-over by soul-lost and messed up China which is quickly becoming a liar Communist and pseudo-Capitalist beast. When one visits the northern regions of ethnic Shans, Kachins, Karens, Padaungs, Kayas and Mandalay-Sagaing natives of upper Burma, one will see the misplaced Chinese businesses and economic-migrants taking over the opportunities of the poor Burmese. Whatever the crap that ASEAN is making up as the Mekhong Region including Yunnan of China, the mismanaged and impoverished southern China with depleted natural resources, environmental pollution of rivers and deforestation need Burma, Thailand or Tibet to eco-colonise. Some lost man called Mao carbon-copied a German Jew called Marx and set up weird systems to mismanage and damage and the lands of the Great Tibet and imperial China’s tribal cultures.

In Burma still, the beloved and ethical leaders Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, U Tin Oo and many NLD party members, who should be the genuinely elected government at present, are under arrest. This is demonstrative of what Burmese people suffered during the last 4 decades since the Sino-Burmese dictator Ne Win ruled and established wrong systems in Burma, letting China’s influence and xenophobia into this gentle land of Southeast Asians. Now this week, General Khin Nyunt, another Sino-Burmese, became the Prime Minister of Burma yet we know that he was nothing but a crony of Ne Win who was thrown into the current junta mix by Ne Win only because of his race, Chinese blood. Mind you I myself am part, albeit a bit, Chinese and can prove you that Chinese customs and beliefs are so different from the Burmese ways—I am nearly 32 now. There is certainly racism alive and well in the East and it remains unchallenged in modern Asian society or thought.

One must condemn Khin Nyunt’s rise to power in Burma and China’s influence which is endangering the precious local customs, arts, languages and ways of life of ethnic Burman and over 20 minority tribes all spreaded across the nation of 50 million. Another reason to wholeheartedly condemn General Khin Nyunt is that because he is the chief of the ruthless Military Intelligence (MI) wing of the atrocious Burmese military. The scary MI are the Burmese version of the SS during the Nazi era. (Please read the attached news of the MI abuse in Burma today.)
We must fight the evil forces and free Aung San Suu Kyi and NLD leaders.
Military Intelligence abuse: MP Blinded by Torture
By Kyaw Zwa Moe( www.irrawady.org)

August 25, 2003—A Burmese elected Member of Parliament has gone nearly blind, two months after being released from the junta’s military intelligence (MI) interrogation center, say sources in Rangoon.
Soe Win, an MP from the banned National Party for Democracy, has lost most of his eyesight after suffering severe pain in his right eye since Saturday, a source close to his family told The Irrawaddy. The source added that an eye specialist who saw Soe Win said no treatment could restore his vision. A senior member from the opposition party the National League for Democracy (NLD) also quoted the physician as saying the disease was spreading to Soe Win’s left eye as well.
The sources said his deteriorating vision is a result of torture by MI officials while in detention. He sustained serious injuries to his right eye and head in custody, and shortly after his release on June 29, he suffered a stroke. Military officials denied Soe Win had been beaten, saying he injured himself in a fall while in jail. To avoid interrogation in custody he attempted suicide by taking an overdose of diuretics. Sources say that after being freed from detention, Soe Win was unable to walk or speak for weeks.
Soe Win was arrested in June this year when the military regime launched a crackdown on members of the NLD after the May 30 incident that left an estimated 70 dead and led to the arrests of senior leaders, including Aung San Suu Kyi.
Since his National Party for Democracy was banned in 1990, Soe Win joined the NLD and has served as a senior member of the party’s information department. He is also a member of the Committee Representing the People’s Parliament (CRPP), an umbrella organization for opposition groups inside Burma.

Tragic promised land, Burma? By Kyaw S.W.
Bearing in mind that our lives have been damaged, our economy on cheap sale, our youths wasted, our monarchs abducted by the Victoria colonialism, and now our democracy leaders Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, U Tin Oo and U Lwin imprisoned, I am seeing the destiny of Burma in the hands of a few good Asian leaders. Dr. Mahathir, Japan and East Timor have been sincere and consistent in trying to free the NLD leaders and 50 million Burmese people. Tan Sri Razali’s negotiations were deeds the UN owe to the two great Burmese, U Thant and Daw Aung San Suu Kyi who served the humanity at the UN office in New York.

As a Burmese, I am thankful to Dr. Mahathir for understanding the plight of the ordinary Burmese who are poor and suffering under the current government composed of little-known commanders, strategically orchestrated by Ne Win to seize power in 1988 massacres; this ungrateful lot let Ne Win die alone under house-arrest in 2003, and his daughter Khin Sandar Win ordered to go home quickly to which she resisted to wait for her dictator father’s ashes. How true, the monkey once our pet has now come to bite our hand.

Fortunately a free and democratic neighbor, Thailand and wealthy Mr. Thaksin who is well-connected to Rangoon’s generals could at least be kind enough to the suffering Burmese citizens by help freeing the NLD leaders in conscience and restore the government elected by Burma’s citizens. Here, one must be delicate and thoughtful as any wrong step on the road map can backfire on the safety of imprisoned NLD leaders and detainees. Mr. Thaksin, as a son of Chiang Mai well understands the “political character” of Burmese oppressors who sold billions of dollars worth of natural resources to Thailand and others, while keeping the Burmese people, child labourers and refugees bone-thin and unhappy.

To ease the drug trade, refugees, deforestation, ban of Thai goods, fishery disputes, and ethnic tribes’ welfare, under the regal guiding light of His Majesty the King, Thai leaders and royal-blood could now be true friends to us by cooperating with Burmese democracy leaders who are losing this battle of guns behind bars.
No evil way to power-mongering shall outlast the impermanence according to Buddha’s teachings. May Burma be free and happy at long last, as now promised by the ASEAN and international community.
