Intervening in an inter family feud in Iraq, US troops interned an 11-year old boy for 24 days without trial. Hundreds of Iraqis civilians are being held in makeshift jails run by US troops - many without being charged or even questioned. Jump To Comment: 2 1Two US peace activists who went to Iraq as "human shields" face fines of up to $US10,000 ($A15,250) for violating a ban on travel to Saddam Hussein's Iraq. "Those who violate the established international and US sanctions can expect the law will be fully and fairly enforced," a US Treasury Department spokesman said .
ABC News reported that the Treasury Department had contacted a number of Americans who were among 300 people from various countries who went to Iraq in a futile effort to prevent the US-led war.
On Tuesday, the US Central Command announced that American troops acted properly when they fired a tank round into the Palestine Hotel in Baghdad, accidentally killing a Reuters cameraman and another journalist.
The command said an investigation of the April 8 incident concluded that a company of soldiers had determined that an Iraqi "hunter-killer" team was using a spotter in the hotel to fire at them and the company was well within the rules of military engagement in responding. The hotel was a base for journalists during the war.

If you're 'detained' by the US'UK military in Iraq, they can hold you for almost three months before charging you or bringing you to a magistrate.
If you're arrested by the Iraqi police, then they only have a matter of a day or so to present you in court.
Oh, and the US troops are still killing people at checkpoints.
One such attack killed two Iraqi policemen who were responding to an emergency call.
But hey, let's fill SKY NEWS with a day of stories about a power failure.
