War Honoured at Kilmainham
A glorification of war took place yesterday at the Royal hospital Kilmainham. Under the guise of being a commemoration for the dead of the "last world wars and those who died on UN duty", it had little respect for the Irish who died with the UN. I say this because the religous part of the "ceremony" was opened by Jaakov Pearlman, the chief rabbi of Ireland and defender of the murder of at least two of those Irish soldiers by the Israeli army of occupation.
When the Israeli amy murdered Irish soldiers in Tibnin their only response to the Irish minister of Defence who went doen to express the concerns of the Government and Irish people was to say, "nobody asked you to come here". Actually the UN did ask us there beacuse of illegal Israeli invasion, occupation, and murder.
Rabbi Pearlman, a staunch defender of the more robust approach of Sharon, escorted by four presumably Mossad "security personell" opened the religous section of the Irish governments commemoration of mostly British War ! British military and intelligence services were also in force to commemorate the wonderful Irish men who left their families destitute and distraught to unwisely serve an Empire and it's evil designs . Not to forget our old friend from Shannon airport , Lt Col John M O'Sullivan, the US defence attache. When not attempting to impersonate a member of the Garda in order to interrogate anti-war protestors last February, John M helps to find suitable idiot candidates for the US military and intelligence services here in Ireland. It's called recruitment and he does it with the full assistance of the Irish Defence Forces and Government.
All these and the cream of our our Military Intelligence (don't laugh), who we will never recognise the next time they turn up at an anti-war meeting or outside a mosque ,as they cleverly wore dark glasses! Who would have thought of that? Now you know why they were head hunted for these jobs by their uncles and cousins. What a wonderful country we have to support such a secret nest of old family ties and pro-US/UK/Israeli pratts in the guise of C3, or whatever it's called now. But how does this small bunch of out-of-touch middle class cronies manage to spend over a million euro of our money every year? It's a secret!
Catholic, Presbyterian, Church of Ireland and Methodists all followed Pearlman in praise of "gallant heroes" but no Muslim! Now you see why they are "terrorists". They have no respect for the time honoured art of war or the pompous parades, inspections and ceremonies so willinging accepted by the Irish Defence Forces, straight from the last army to occupy the Royal College Kilmainham. A hundred years ago the same ceremony was being held by that army. So who did we honour yesterday?

BURN A UN FLAG TODAY
In the leb they were, in practice, helping to maintain Israel's illegal occupation.
In the Congo they were helping to provide stability for the CIA's new golden boy, Mobutu, and ensuring that the radical nationalism of Lumumba didn't flare up again.
UN peacekeeping invariably means defusing a conflict once it has reached a favourable situation for the imperialist powers. The 3 major imperialist powers: the US, France and britain all have vetoes on the security council. They NEVER approve peacekeeping troops unless they will benefit. Look at Rwanda.
This is not to say that the Irish soldiers are to blame. They may well have been decent people. However, like all soldiers, they were the pawns of the powerful. Their deaths should not be celebrated, rather remembered with pity - that decent people can be fooled into becoming the agents of oppression.
Ten irish lads killed defending the peace in the congo. 47 killed in the leb, should we not remember their sacrifice? should we turn a blind eye to it, should we not thank their families for the sacrifice that their loved ones made, not just for ireland but for the countries that they worked in?
James, it would be worse if the rabbi boycotted the service.
From what I remember of the programme "All the Queens Irishmen." Was he served in the Irish army and found it not much of a challenge, with no hope of being promoted.Hence he went to the British army. Belive it or not there actually people who like being soilders. And YES us Irish have a very strong tradition of serving in different armies. From the Wild Geese of 1691 Limerick to on both the Croat and Serb sides in Yougoslavia,to Iraq. All I can say is;fair fucks to them all. They saw a way out of this little smug hyprocrital rock and took it.
I have clashed with James McKenna on another issue, but I support him fully on this one. If there were supposedly 30,000 Irishmen killed in First World War it's logical to assume they killed an equal 30,000. Hungarians, Austrians, Turks etc. Far-off countries of which we knew little. For Irishmen to go overseas and kill people of whom they knew nothing was mindless murder, I don't care how brainwashed they may have been by Church and State.
Unfortunately the tradition still exists--witnress that Irish guy in the British Army who got on the wrong end of an Iraqi bullet a couple of months ago.
For picking on the simple amongst us.That isnt very PC or liberal is it?
Poor James is a bit "bewilderd"
I mean come on .Anyone who claims that no one has been on the Moon [Conspiricy theory or just because they were American.]
Or millions of Iraquis were about to rise up and support Saddo in a resistance war.
Everything is a Geo Bush,CIA,blah blah blah trick or conspiricy.Even this post!
So leave him alone. He hasnt proably had his medication or the locked him in the red white and blue bouncy bouncy room again.
It can't be. There can't have been a Muslim at the commemoration.
Because that would mean that James McKenna was wrong. That he'd just jumped to conclusions and posted an ill-thought-out rant without even checking his facts.
And that would be an appalling vista to terrible to even contemplate.
I bet he's right about the Rabbi though. Those bloody Jews just HATE Irish soldiers and want them all dead.
reports that an imam was invited. he attended, but didnt join in the prayers. he felt it was inappropriate for him to do so given the shia / sunni divide. (he didnt say which he was) he said he hoped the govt would invite both shia and sunni imams next year.
perhaps becuase the irish army doesnt have a lot of, or any muslims.
its up to the army to decide who comes some they must not have a problem with a rabbi unlike the anti semitic james here
excuse the spelling
I hope that our Brave members of the Defence Forces never have to defend you from an oppressor, because you and your ilk do not deserve them.
And for your information, ALL Irishmen who died in past wars includes those who died for this country and its independence as well as those who gave their lives for others, and where deservedly honoured yesterday by their countrymen.
You bastard, James. Your hatred for the rabbi shows us all your true colours, and your fabrication of facts and use of crude innuendo brings shame on people like me who are opposed to war and the occupation of Palestine. You are one fucked up guy who has got to be either ill and incapable of logic, or planted to discredit the left. Also, Irish men who fought in all wars should be remembered and honoured, despite our misgivings about the armies they fought for. They were often young men preyed upon by recruiters and gave their lives, often without knowing what for. I hope you never have to experience theloss of someone close to you, and then have fucked-up pricks like you writing vile shit like this about a ceremony.
Go back to the sewer, asshole.
The true spirit of 1916 and 1798 was celebrated in the actions of those who gathered in the Garden of Remberance on Sunday 13 July from there, at 3 pm activists from Autonomous Community Space opened up a derelict building on 41 Parnell Square (West) that has been unused and derelict for the last 11 years. The activists are aiming to highlight a number of issues including spiralling rents and the lack of affordable housing. The autonomous space is in the heart of the Taoiseach's constituency of Dublin Central.
Issuing a statement from Autonomous Space Community Cian O'Callaghan, press spokesperson said:
"There are a ridiculous number of empty buildings in Dublin. Boarded up, unused, waiting for the highest price so they can be turned into cramped apartments that no one can afford. Meanwhile people sleep on the streets, students work 30 hours on top of college so they can pay exorbitant suburban rents, and families are forced into unsuitable rented accommodation because they have no hope of affording their own home."

Presumably this commomoration is about in our case the resistance and the oppressors. I would guess that amongst those who put down the Easter rising were Irish troops, albeit in most rank and file case misguided.
It is akin to those who wanted to invite the Orange order to commemoration of 1798.
Then our elite are uncomfortable with our past.
We are in Orwells world where the pigs and the farmers have got together.
The commemorations I enjoyed were the alternatives which Bobby Ballaghts committee used to organise where the great and the good were absent.
Come on, James McKenna. Can you quote exactly where Rabbi Pearlman, or whatever his name is, has defended "the murder of at least two of those Irish soldiers by the Israeli army of occupation".
And before you start, I'm not a defender of the Rabbi, and I don't know what he's said about Israel in general. I don't know (and frankly, I'm not really that bothered) if he's a supporter of Sharon or not.
But that's not the point. You have specifically stated that he has defended "the murder of at least two of those Irish soldiers by the Israeli army of occupation", and I'm curious about where you're sourcing this information from.
Because obviously someone posting a news article on indymedia would have their facts straight and wouldn't just be posting an ill-informed rant, wouldn't they?
