GR ACTIVISTS TAKE PART IN 150,000 steong demo and blocades delay g8 summit for two hours...we are winning!

SUNDAY JUNE 1st UPDATE FROM GENEVA

Anti-capitalist movement stronger and deeper than before....another world is possible
Report on activities that Globalise Resistance was involved in. Last night was the meeting of social movements in Geneva...we put out the call for people to come over to the protests and alternative summit at the WEF in October
Last night was the meeting of social movements in Geneva...we put out the call for people to come over to the protests and alternative summit at the WEF in October in Dublin..lots of good reaction!

At 10 pm began the fires on the lake... locals from geneva organised bonfires around the lake to show the state of emergency that the g8 are in town and show their opposition to the g8. We went down and joined them..the atmosphere was fantastic. Lots of the locals supporting us..families out walking among the festival against the g8 summit. Big message of weekend..the movement is maturing and we talk to the locals and explain what we are doing and join with their opposition.

5.30 am this morning we marched to the bridges and took part in the blockades, completely peaceful on our brigde but others police tryed to force cars and buses through. Tear gas fired. Message that Annemasse and Lausanne blocades successfull in delaying summit but blocades heavily attacked by police.

The blocades were backed by the social forums and showed the illegitimacy of the g8 and they are not democratic deciding the fate of 6 billion-they are only 8!

Main demonstration began in geneva at 11am..we marched as IRish GR contingent lots of chants against war and corporate greed..contre la guerre..anti war everywwhere! Numbers alot better than expected -around 150,000..not many blocks aside from GR, LCR and Spanish and French anarchist Trade Unions. Mainly individuals against war and corporate globalisation..very radical, international and politicised ..resistance et tous ensemble. The movement is not gone away..we are here to stay and where, like in Geneva where are numbers are strong the police will not attack..our power is in our numbers..we are many..they are few!

Inspirational when at border (which was open with no police or checking of passports i.e. thourgh our force of numbers we got rid of the borders..another world IS possible)between France and Switzerland the march from Geneva met march from Annemasse...so so so so-lidaritè! BRing on the international movement to IReland for october ..o2o!

I mean there is no substance or information in this at all, just generalisation "the movement is winning"

Who is the movement? What are they winning.

Rory you're a fucking tool, and this isn't a big mac it's a happy meal, and you're the toy....

Piss off from my side.

Its "articles" like these that give indymedia and the whole anti-corporate globalisation movement a bad name, and too right. The piece is completely devoid of any useful information, when sentences peter out they are concluded with a nice slogan or even some French, ooh how cultured, can we all march along o'connell street like after genoa shouting "libera evian" now, rory?

its this completely exagerrated, radical lefty propaganda that drives people away from the movement.

if anyone has a bit of a brain, stay away from GR, at least since genoa we've had the development of a lot of different groups since then, things are groing, unfortunately I can't see how we're winning, but if we want to win, it'll be by using our minds, and not following this propogandist shite from rory hearne

Expected 40-50,000 from the Swiss side marched on the motorway, met at the boarder by 50-60,000 from France.

WE are many, they [you clowns] are few. Who needs Iraq, we've got our own looters right here in Europe.

You're sounding a bit breathless there Rory. Take a deep breath. RTE are suggesting 40,000 rather than 150,000, so I assume the true figure is somewhere in the middle. Good luck to everyone at Evian! (Emm...except the G8)
