Teacht na bhFainleog

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Sunday June 01, 2003 05:51author by CONNER Report this post to the editors

Sa Ghréig cuirtear fáilte roimh an fáinleog san earrach ach caithfidh ár leithéid in Éirinn fanacht go dtí an samhradh le hiad a fheiceáil.

Is dócha go dtiocfadh leat comparáid a dhéanamh idir 'Lá an dreoilín' in Éirinn agus teacht na bhfáinleog sa Ghréig. Bíonn leithscéal ag páistí na tíre dul thart i mórshiúl agus iad ag cur isteach ar a comharsana ag impí orthu bronntanais a thabhairt dóibh. Ní mharaíonn siad fáinleog, áfach, ach iompraíonn siad ceann adhmaid thart leo.

Ar ndóigh, creidtear go forleathan nár chóir fáinleog a mharú toisc go bhfuil sí beannaithe. San am céanna, tá muintir na hAlban, amhrasach fúithi agus iad den tuairim go bhfuil braoinín d'fhuil an dhiabhail inti.

Is cosúil go bhfuil cumasaí draíochta ag an fháinleog. Creidtear go raibh sí ar cheann de na h-éiníní a fuair tine ar son an duine. Mar atá a fhios againn, tá neart leaganacha ar gach uile scéal: Chuaigh sé chun na Fláitheas le teacht ar tine ach, ar a bhealach ar ais, dódh poll ina ruball. Dar le scéalaithe eile, chuaigh an fháinleog go hIfreann le tine a aimsiú ach rug an diabhal greim ar a ruball agus d'fhág sé cruth foirc ina rubaillín ó shin. Lena chois sin, tá daoine áirithe den bharúil gurb í an fháinleog a d'aimsigh tine do Noah agus a mhuintir nuair a thráigh an t-uisce i ndiaidh na Díle.

Tá na hIúdaigh buíoch don fháinleog fosta agus iad den tuairim gur chuidigh sí go mór leis an Teampall Mór in Iarúsailéim a shábháilt. Dar leo, d'iompar sí uisce ina gob leis an tine a mhúchadh sa Teampall (is dócha nach raibh ach tine beag bídeach acu ag an am).

Ós rud é go raibh baint aici le tine, tá cuma dubh uirthi ó shin agus dath na toite ar a cleití. Cinnte, bhí sí dóite anseo is ansiúd agus dath dearg uirthi chomh maith.

Ní amháin go bhfuil násc ag an fháinleog le tine ach is cosúil go bhfuil baint aici le huisce agus le torthúlacht. De réir mar a thuigtear beannaítear mná le torthúlacht agus neadacha ag fáinleoga i ngar dóibh.

Is comhartha é go bhfuil fearthainn ar an bhealach má tá an fháinleog ag eitilt go híseal. Sa tSín, caitheadh fáinleoga in uisce agus Sínigh ag impí ar na déithe fearthainn a chur chucu.

Cé go bhfuil sé luaite agam nár mhaith le éinne fáinleoga a mharú, tuigtear go raibh fonn ar chuid iad a ithe ar mhaithe le leigheas a fháil ar tinnis áirithe. Bhíodh suas le céad fáinleoga ite in aon béile amháin (bhuel, níl mórán feola iontu). Creideadh go raibh bua iontach iontu don titeamas go háirithe, ach itheadh iad le duáin níos láidre a chothú freisin. Creideann roinnt daoine go fóill, fiú, go bhfuil cloch draíochta istigh i mbolg gach fáinleog agus go dtiocfadh duine dall a leigheas leis.

Tá sé deas roinnt Gaeilge a fheiceáil ar Indymedia, fiú más alt é atá ar fáil áit éigin eile.
Mholfainn d'éinne atá Gaeilge acu alt iomlán nó cuid de alt a scríobh as Gaeilge.
Tá a fhios agam go bhfuil an locht céanna orm agus mar sin de, déanfaidh mé atá molta agam ó seo amach.
