Blacks dont own Hip Hop , Jazz etc. It can also be the protest music of Asians, Hispanics, Whites etc.
Making it big as advertising executives and corporate accountants, thATS WHERE.
And my friend Colin Powell is busy killing Iraqis and Afghanis. And his son Michael is chairperson of the FCC which is making sure that ClearChannel and Rupert Murdoch are able to monopolise media all over the United States.
Admittedly my cousin is an embarassment as she's a civil-rights activist, but still we've done well.
African-Americans are the creators of this music. Jazz, Soul, Blues etc. has it's roots in Africa, not Asia! Yours is a baseless statement. That's why you should come and learn the facts.
Trist att läsa om den där kritikern. Alla kan ju inte gilla allas musik men han hade inte behövt vara elak och nedsättande! Hoppas han har fått ta mycket skit för det.
(It's) dismal to read about this critique. Everyone cannot like everyone elses music, but he did not need to be spiteful and derogatory.

I'm glad to hear that we'll get to hear Aisha again. This event sounds very interesting!
I would like to encourage people in Ireland to go and hear Aisha! She is truly and fantastic singer and pianist! I will be at the event. I hope that you will too!
J. Connelly = Bankole ?
No one ethnic group or "race" can lay claim to a particular style of music. blues , Jazz Hip Hop have all been developed and added to by musicians of many races.
You should also remember that the vast majority of blacks in Ireland are not African American. They are from Africa, so take your pcisms and stick them. You will find that most anti racist activists in Ireland have little time for middle class pc mania.
It remains my opinion that Aisha hasnt got a recording deal because both her singing and playing are at best mediocre.
To But..by curious
Your statement "No one ethnic group or 'race' can lay claim to a particular style of music" is a lie. All cultures and musics have an origin. But this is a foreign concept to you becuase you think that it's your absolute right to define and steal everything. It's your opinion (and an unfounded one) that "Jazz Hip Hop have all been developed" by musicians of many races. Those simply are not the facts. Fruthermore, you are not a musicologist. Who are you to speak for Black people of any origin in Ireland? I guess you think that's your right too.
The problem here is that African-American culture has been are appropriated by other groups to the point where they have become excluded. And many famous and well-known African-American artists feel that the music has become sub-standard.
Your opinion about Aisha doesn't count for much. Because you have no respect for artists and other people's cultures. You are speaking from a perspective that is totally unfounded but since you believe that white = right I guess that it really doesn't matter.
To Who is it?
Just can't believe that your racism wouldn't go unchallenged this time did you! I know you'd like to think otherwise, but other people have comptuters and opinions! And all Irish people are not racist.
Getting back to the fact that music evolves. Jazz, Hip Hop, Blues have all evolved. Many races have contribued to this.
Whats really going on here is a couple of paranoid yanks are trading on the fact that they are black. Most radical musicians have problems getting recording contracts, even those with talent. Does anyone really believe that these pair were driven out of the US? Thousands of activists in the US have suffered similar and even worse harassment. They stayed and fought.
Its obvious that I am not the only person on Indymedia who thinks that Aishas skills are at best mediocre. That dopes not make us racist.
