Sustainable Living Festival, Temple Bar
The 4th Annual Convergence Festival brings together a host of ideas .........
May 16th to 25th at Cultivate: Sustainable Living Centre.
Ss Michael & John's, Essex Street West, Temple Bar, Dublin 8.
The 4th Annual Convergence Festival brings together a host of ideas and
solutions as an approach to creating a culture of sustainability. The
Festival will feature conferences, workshops, films, theatre, music and
exhibits. This year’s themes include the eco-economy, plant medicines, human
rights, traditional knowledge, democracy, radicalising the media, education
for sustainability, natural health, appropriate technology, renewable
energy, eco-cities, eco-design and community building.
This year George Monbiot will be speaking on Wednesday the 21st at the
Schumacher lecture and at the Human Rights Symposium which is focused on
West Papua on Thursday the 22nd. A talk titled 'Localisation - solving
global crises from terrorism to climate change' will be held on Friday the
23rd at 7.30 pm with authors Helena Norberg Hodge and Richard Douthwaite.
Films include The Revolution Will Not be Televised, Revolution OS which
tells the inside story of the hackers who rebelled against the proprietary
software model and Microsoft to create GNU/Linux and the Open Source
movement. An official bootleg of Mark Thomas Live in Brighton will be
screened on Monday 19th at 6.00pm.
Convergence will feature a media centre recording the events and putting the
material out on the internet.
