'Revolution, Anti Capitalism and Socialism from below'... the truth

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Friday May 09, 2003 14:50author by KG - SWP Report this post to the editors

the rightward drift of Socialist Alternative

Socialist Alternative may like to portray themselves as a radical group with slogans such as 'Revolution Socialism from below etc etc.' But the reality is somewhat different.

Since leaving the SWP they have gone further and further to the right so much so that they backed a leading memebr of the Labour party who was also backed by Fianna Fáil in the UCD elections over a revolutionary socialist who had a very good record of struggle. Another thing that shows their right wing drift is the fact that their chairman Donal Lyons seems to have joined the Labour Party. See the link below to read more about what this group are really about.

Their leader Danny Finn has also uncritically backed the reformism of Tommy Sheridan's SSP.
