Media ignore US deaths and warship explosion

news report

The war that 'is over' just keeps killing Two US soldiers have been killed in separate incidents in Iraq and 11 more injured in an explosion on a warship in the Gulf , in the past two days. The media are working hard to keep the focus off such signs of a failing "war" in Iraq .
A Marine was shot dead by a civilian who walked up to him on a bridge in Baghdad. The assailant then ran away. US Central command told ABC news they knew nothing of the incident! A US Humvee vehicle hit a culvert bomb, or "probable land mine" as the US called it, near Saddam International Airport yesterday killing at least one marine. The US and UK occupation forces are under daily attack across Iraq and the frequency of the attacks is growing as the Iraqis get the size of the invaders. Our media however has decided to sideline such stories as they do not fit in with "we won the war". Saddams latest tape also has Washington in a spin as the Ace of Spades himself claims "victory is close"! He, the Ten of Clubs, the Six of Diamonds, a Royal Flush , Barney the Dinosaur and Mata Hari are said to be moments from death according to Col Major Sergent Bill "Bubba" Kapowalowski of the 22nd Division of the 16th armoured troop of the advanced commando Delta Force in Doha. "We'll liberate those bastards or my name ain't Bubba" , said Bill quickly checking his dog-tags. http://abcnews.go.com/wire/World/ap20030508_1096.html http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2003/05/08/1052280379814.html http://www.sunspot.net/bal-ed.cheney08may08.story

Last sentence should read 'essential that the situation on the ground is reported accurately rather than as "a land of milk and honey" living in the post Saddam era'.
Doh - Moral of the story don't try to talk on the phone and add acomment at the same time.
It's all falling apart. Not!
There's space for another on Mt.Rushmore and I predict that Dubya is the man. History will record him as being one of the four great American Presidents who kept a steady hand on the tiller in times of great crisis. George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Woodrow Wilson and George W Bush.........
There may be some difficulties, but the USA will prevail in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Ever notice, that people who hate America are usually losers themselves?
But I do notice how muppetts with little to add to an article travel in pairs....
Anti-fascists were "losers" from about 1939 until early 1943. Then they started winning. During that period the "winners" were Waffen-SS types of the kind lauded by Dubya's ideological predecessor Reagan at Bitburg cemetery until somebody reminded him he wasn't supposed to like Nazis.
The good ole' USA.
And who saved Iraq from it's gangster regime?
Same as above.
and 72% of West Germans wanted him to honour the German dead of WW11. It was an act of reconciliation, that fact that there were a few SS dudes interred there wss no big deal, most German graveyards contain a few.
Still, the fact was seized upon by those eager to assail the unassailable.
Plus ca change.
How can we trust any of you people when you don't tell the truth, only the bits that fit in with your agenda.
It's lying. Sneaky, but lying.
Yes, and who sold Eastern Europe into bondage to Uncle Joe Stalin ...? Ever hear about Yalta ... ?
Have a little think about that one Josef ......
What is unusual about the media lying. Sure haven't Indymedia.ie being doing it from day one?
This is the place to come if you want to read lies.
The truth is always censored by the censorship team. Isn't that right RAY?
Are you a complete moron? So the victorious allies divied up Europe. Does that somehow excuse Stalin for beinga murdering tyrant????
I'm so tired of this dumbass illogical crap.
Sorry to burst your bubble Josef but the Russians got to Berlin first and certainly there would have been very little for the Americans to "save" from facism if the Soviet Union had not held out against Hitlers onslaught.
To say that the Americans won the war (by implication on their own) is both untrue and a huge disservice to the enormous sacrifice of the Russian people, not to mention resistance fighters all over Europe.
GREEK PROFFESSIONAL SOLDIER REFUSES TO DEPLOY TO IRAQ

[this crosspost http://uk.indymedia.org/front.php3?article_id=67782&group=webcast and comments moved by R Isible. Please do not crosspost stories on indymedia sites. They will be deleted. Thanks.] The acts of resistance against the unlawful occupation of Iraq become more and more in the Greek army. For the first time, a Greek PROFESSIONAL soldier declares publicly that he refuses to deploy to Iraq.
Seaman Apprentice George Monastiriotis, 23 years old, a professional soldier who has a 5 years contract with the Hellenic Navy, refused to embark on the battleship "NAVARINO" (he is a member of its crew) that will be sailing for the Persian Gulf in a few days. He also declared his immediate resignation from the Hellenic Navy. Although the battleship "NAVARINO" will be in the Persian Gulf for the needs of the operation "Enduring Freedom" that officially has nothing to do with the occupation of Iraq, it will actually support the occupying forces.
The navy has not responded to the declaration of the 23-year-old Seaman Apprentice, yet. However he faces the threat of being court martialled.
His full statement is presented below:
"STATEMENT OF REFUSAL
Acting on the basis of my conscience, I refuse to take part or contribute by any means in the relentless slaughter of the Iraqi people. I refuse to take part in a war that is not ended as even now after its official end people and among them many children are being killed. Even if this war is officially finished, many more are to come, as war is necessary for the expansion of the dominance of the ruling powers. I declare my immediate resignation from the Hellenic Navy, which is a mechanism that promotes inhuman practices through orders and hierarchy and acts as a means of extortion and repression of the movement and the uprisings of the people. My refusal is also the minimal act of solidarity to the Iraqi people and to the peaceful sentiments of the Greek people. "

It is people like George Monastiriotis, Mary Kelly, CW5 and Mordechai Vanunu that we get our real inspiration and motivation from.
The anti-war movement in Ireland is in abit of a lull at the moment but we need to not forget that everywhere in the world people are continuing to resist and put themselves on the line in the name of justice and peace. We need to support and follow these people.
The system trys to criminalise our heroes and crush our movement. You need to ask yourself why! The answer is because we our strong, too strong. The power that we have when we come together and resist is unbeatable. The heads of this system will do anything, and they do, to prevent us from keeping and expanding this power. Innocent people get jailed, killed and harrassed so they can stay in power. We need not be dis heartened by this but instead use it as futher motivation to keep going and resisting. T
The Irish army could learn from these Greeks
