 A picket was held outside the Progressive Democrats Annual Conference in the Corrib Great Southern Hotel, Galway. Among the picketers were those protesting the PD's involvement in the plan to build incinerators in the Galway area, and those protesting their complicity in the Iraq war by their support of the use of shannon by the US military. It was a small but vocal protest and gave a good reception to the arriving PD delegates with a rousing chorus for Harney and McDowell. Lots of public support was given as passing cars hooted their horns and gave a thumbs up. One besuited, groomed and smiling PD attempted to engage some the the protestors in conversation concerning the incinerators, but his argument was quite weak and was easily defeated by a local Green Party member who actually had some facts as opposed to the PD's smiling rhetoric. After quite a cold evening some of the protestors managed to make it in to the PD Conference bar, where there was plenty of hot air to keep them warm. They mingled with the suits, and their trophy wives, and received some strange looks while considering whether to buy a round of bloody mary's! |

I'd say the chefs in the Corrib were run off their feet keeping Harney's trough full,or maybe she was wearing a nose bag.
The last pic was just intended to illustrate the fact that we went inside(mainly cos it was freezing outside and we fancied a pint after the demo)
We had a leaf through the banquet arrangements and noticed with glee the Harney had about 10 seats assigned to her.
A paper was left around(I'm not an swp'er by the way) and some of the PD's had a bemused gander at it.
I got witin 10 feet of McDowell, and if I'd known that his stormtrooper-wannabes were going to harass me the following day I would have brought some eggs.
That way you can sit down fry the eggs and brew up some tay after
