The BBC has run a story claiming UK spring temperatures are up 1.8?C. It's alarmist agitprop straight from a Green Blob press release and it doesn't check out when you look at the facts, says Chris Morrison.

The Javaad Alipoor Company is a theatre company with a woke "nine-point manifesto that drives everything we do". Inevitably, the Arts Council is stuffing it with taxpayers' cash. Why do we fund this crap?

No halting site of campus!

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Friday April 11, 2003 10:39author by Max Dempsey - UCD Pro Lib Soc Report this post to the editors

UCD Pro Liberation Society calls for the dropping of all plans by the county council to put a halting site on Belfield campus.

We oppose the proposed site for the following reasons, we will also launch a campaign to oppose this site.

It is out of keeping with the socio economic makeup of the surrounding area.

Money should be spent on extra services on campus for student not for travelors who will probably never go to UCD.

The possible increase in petty crime around campus. Already there are high levels of bike theft.

I wonder if this is a spoof? If not it seems the 'pro-liberation society' are only for the liberation of some. Not much of a surprise there but it reveals that behind the spin of their name its the same old blueshirt politics.

For international readers, Irish Travellers are an oppressed ethnic group here who are traditionally nomads (although many have now 'settled'). They are subject to all sorts of racist crap here, including attempts as above to limit where they can live and to impose quotas on how many can live in particular areas. This by the way is in relation to 'legal' places for them to live, if they try and stop in traditional areas they have to move on within 24 hours or have their propety confiscated. The following are involved in this spoof group:
1. John Harvey
2. That red headed freak from LawSoc
3. That other creepy guy that is in FF, Brian O'Farrell I think his name is.
4. an assortment of othe other right-wingers in FF and FG

I cant wait untill the next editions of the college papers where these guys will be exposed to over 20,000 students. John Harvey you are so pathetic!

"out of keeping with the socioeconomic makeup of the area"
..oh jesus i feel ill.

i wouldnt be quite so quick to discount this as a spoof just on the grounds that it's repugnant...
And dont just delete it for the same reason, im sure a lot of people will have something to say about this one....

Max

I have passed your comments to the National Consultative Committee on Racism and Interculturalism. I have no doubt, they will be in touch.

nice one Eoin.
I think they kind of do exist but are blatently not the sharpest tools in the box, (no halting site of campus??). Their reasons for supporting the war were ludicrous, revenge of Sept 11th and other such idiotic things.
I dont think they are much to worry about. A few posters is the most harm they do.

You are probably just a dickhead trying to get a rise out of lefties and get a bit of attention for yourself by this posing. But if you are serious and are intent on creating a far-right blueshirt movement, there are a fair few people who will take this very seriously indeed. Indeed even if you aren't serious, you can't guarantee that you won't be misinterpreted. You are playing with fire.

Eoin O'M is sowing illusions in the bourgeois National Consultative Committee on Racism and Interculturalism! The only way racism can be faught is by working class uniting in a fight against racism and for a workers revolution!

The Irish State is a clerical and anti-traveller state!
No to illusions in bourgeois democracy!
For a workers revolution!
