BBC's” World Affairs Editor John Simpson Survives Bombing in Iraq by an American F15

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Sunday April 06, 2003 14:30author by Kevin-Scott Report this post to the editors

An American convoy containing Kurds and American special forces is bombed by an American aircraft.

John Simpson was standing 10 -12 feet away from where the bomb hit and broadcast the incident by satellite phone moments after the attack.

He was injured, bleeding through an ear reporting on a “scene from hell” as he counted 10 bodies and 8-10 vehicles burning.

US military claimed: "Coalition aircraft were conducting close air support missions at the time, and were in coordination with ground forces,"

Reports on Al Jazeera say that the convoy was attacked by a unit of Iraqi Resistance, Fedhayin.

The US walked into an ambush!

Of course the enemy is not so clever, so once again , it was "friendly fire".

Sure!

Pull the other one.

When the US drop a bomb or shoot somebody accidentally they never admit it until you show them the missile casing with the Boeing symbol on it. In this instance they knew exactly what plane it was etc???

This was an ambush alright.

They claim to have lost one tank and a single tank commander in their incursion into Baghdad but that is a lie too.

Even according to Sky it was more than 12 tanks. Claims by the US that a thousand Iraqi troops had been killed in close fighting, while they lost only one, are optimistic in the extreme. One US tank commander, interviewed by SKY, described the incursion as "three hours of organised chaos". In three hours of organised chaos, when a small column of perhaps 30 vehicles were met by thousands of Iraqi troops, on their own territory, it would seem more probable that the incursion was sent back with heavy casualties. This would explain why the US Command Centre has decided not to make any further incursions.

The Iraqis claim 300 US troops were killed as their column was repelled. Pick a number between 1 and 300 !

They are doing well to keep people from twigging what a disaster this war is. Interesting to see how long they will be able to keep it up.

Has anyone heard about the nuclear subs the Russians are moving towards the gulf? They are well pissed they are losing millions every day and that the US are stealing THEIR oil. I wonder how long it will be until people wise up to this little dynamic of the Bush War II and its disasterous consequences for 30 years of East/West demilitarisation?

pissed off lots of people by claiming on BBC newsfeed that
"The BBC have just liberated Kabul!".
this led to a three page G2 supplement special on the Simpson who eveyone knows is an obnoxious journalist. Perhaps the USAF media division have signalled hium out for this friendly fire incident coz they are a vengeful lot.
moral of the story....
do not claim on indymedia that you have "liberated" either Belfast or Hillsborough when you come back.

that the Iraquis could only show ONE destroyed tank??They claim to have "removed" the six remaining tanks???? HMMMMMMMM a eighty ton battle tank that has been disabled/destroyed.That requires a 30 ton tank transporter times six plus recovery gear. And the Iraquis still have all this equipment???NAHHHHH
Truth you knocked one out[big deal]killed maybe thirty US reoops[possible].But the trouble is quantity. The US has more to lose than the Iraquis can replace.Aint capitalism great???

If you want a glimpse of the truth look at who is to gain, or more exactly who is to lose out from the event. Friendly fire or Iraqi ambush? all the same the US has rid itself of a large chunk of the potentially troublesome Kurdish leadership. Handy.
