Stop the war coalition press conference just finished

The visit of President Bush to Northern Ireland on Monday should not be an occassion for more violence. Recent events have shown that advertised peaceful protest usually ends up not being peaceful. The recent law breaking outside our National parliament during the week show that even when many people truly want peaceful protest, their wishes are not respected by a small, but very agressive minority. The usual claims of police brutality follow, even when not a single person could produce any video footage or photo of this, despite the fact that there were dozens of Indymedia cameras filiming everything. All the pictures on this site show nothing of note.

I don't particularly like George Bush, the individual. However lets show the worlds media that we are a civilised nation. The man should be respected and if people want to protest it should be truly peaceful. However, I supect that we will have the agressive, violent elements that appeared in Shannon and Dublin bussed up to Belfast to force their view on others in their own tuggish, bullyboy way.

America has been good to Ireland. Lets not damage the relationship that has been enjoyed for generations. Dont let the bullyboys and facists hijack peaceful protest.

A statement from the Workers' Party, condemning the visit from Bush and Blair has been removed. A similar statement from the Green Party (NI) has not been removed. Is Indymedia politically biased?

with every party under the sun posting their press release. The later ones got compiled together into a single thread. This article should get deleted or added as a comment to the other thread.

I don't see this mysterious thread. And the NI Green's statement is still up as an individual contribution.

I agree that the newswire can get clogged up and that the Indymedia editorial team must organise it, but let's not become partial about it. Please restore the WP statement with a clear link.
