Northern Ireland Water board public meetings to discuss the introduction of water charges

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Friday April 04, 2003 18:48author by Pensioner power Report this post to the editors

Northern Ireland water board public meetings will be held on the dates below to discuss the introduction of water charges, all are welcome to these meetings. Let the government know our views on their riduculous water charge scheme, otherwise we'll be paying through the nose as usual.

The introduction of water charges, will cost more than the amount needed to fix the water system. More beaurocratic bollix for pensioners, and the most vunerable members of our society to wade through. Not to mention the installation of thousands of water meters!! and added electricity cost of running these meters. Below is a list of the dates for the water board public meetings. Don't let them introduced these ridiculous charges without a fight.

Leisure center Omagh Wed 16th Aprill 2003
Tower hotel L'derry 29th April 2003
Town Hall Ballymena Wed 7th May 2003
Grosvernor House Glengall St, Belfast Tues 15th May 2003,
Civic Centre Craigavon Wed 14th May 2003.

All water board public meetings start at 7.30pm, be there, don't let them bring in these charges without giving ordinary people a say in the matter.

Can you imagine what your water bill will be, if you have a child that constantly leaves the taps running. We all know how forgetful wee kids are.

Some families have 8 kids, can you imagine how much it would cost on your water bill to wash and bath these kids. Some people also have medical conditions which require them to wash constantly, again their water bills will be sky high.

Will SF use their considerable support base in the North to launch a serious mass non payment campaign to defeat this double tax?

SF say they are opposed to bin charges etc well lets see what they do on this issue.
