From today's Irish Times on Tonight's rally. "Speakers will include representatives of the Irish Council of for Civil Liberties, trade unions, the Green Party, the Labour Party and the Socialist Workers' Party, according to Mr Joe Carolan of Globalise Resistance" Let's bring plenty of pies!

How many were out protesting when Martin Ferris was out brutalising people for Mother Ireland?

Don't get me wrong, the Gardai were pretty obviously harrassing Sinn Fein to try and dtop them getting elected and we should all oppose that.

But SF and the IRA are a pack of sectarian bastards.

Uses of the word 'mainland' shows that the source of much of this so-called radicalism is Mother England. How many protested when Martin Ferris was brutalized by police in County Kerry. Irish 'socialism' is merely an expression of a neo-colonial mentality.

I totally agree: we can't give any excuse. Listening on the radio today there were plenty of "respectable" heads of business complaining about disruption to traffic and making ignorant comments about Monday's crowd containing thugs and gangsters, we have support now but it it is fragile. People realise that although the Guarda response was horrific and excessive and in no manner justified in terms of provocation or threat we could have given them a route plan and asked for cooperation. This isn't to say they wouldn't have still taken the opportunity to play rounders with a few skulls but we are not seen as total victims at the moment. We need to show we are serious, this means showing we're mature and can protest truly peacefully. We didn't (at least anyone i saw) throw anything on Monday so why should we tonight.
I do think it would be a better idea though to not allow so many politicians who weren't witness to the violence speak as most protesters will sense the emptiness of their words and probably become anxious as to whether they intend to follow through. Instead we should allow the more eloquent and prepared members of the protest to make a few short speeches and inform people of where they can go to make official complaints and where they can find photos and videos of the evidence so that maybe we can identify more Guardi for justice than the one "scapegoat" on the news. He was a complete lunatic but there were loads of them being absurdly violent. We need to all complain so that we corroberate each others evidence as most of us will find it hard to be certain who did what as so few of them were wearing no's.
For instance i went in to complain about the small group of three or four who were attacked on the pavement on Dame Street after being stranded and isolated when the Guarda split the crowd in two directions: i remember how brutal and random the attack was but I could not give good descriptions of the Guardi involved.
We should also ask people with photos to make copies available for others to use as evidence for complaints. Or they could just send copies of all the incriminating evidence to the offical complaints office in the Irish Life centre in Abbey Street.
Keep it peaceful tonight and try to not stop traffic: this isn't reclaim the streets its a protest about unnecessary force so it needs to similar to other controlled organised peaceful protests: this is important guys, lets not fuck up.

... don't antagonize the police. They are already the 'villians of the piece' (excuse the pun). If you attack anyone - including with pies or eggs, you will only fuck it all up! You need a steady nerve right now. Be there and make yourself count

What the fuck?
Why bring pies and eggs and fake blood to a peaceful process?

Sounds like a bunch of wannabe spin doctors trying to cause trouble to me.

You do know that any trouble tonight is going to look very badly on yourselves there are 100's of parades, marches and protests every year which go off without a hitch - maybe if you organised it better there wouldnt have been any problems.

OK, the swp have done it again. It's no surprise and quite rightly alot of people are pissed off. But tonight is neither the time nor the place to deal with them. If there is any hint of violence, I'm not saying pieing Labour party politicians is violent but it would be construed as such. The mainstream media, and the cops will use it to their own advantage. Let the swp know what you think but keep the peace. There will be other opportunities for DA against Lying, manipulating, dictatorial scumbag politicians including the swp.

Jim, I understand what you're saying.
Let's have a party. No violence,
we all agree, just a few pies, eggs,
fake blood, whatever.
We can't let the SWP get away with this!
What will they do next?

Their will be menbers of almost evey news service in Ireland ther and maybe some form the mainland, this is our chance to gain public support in our causes.

We must appear to be united and civil. Than mean no attacking Labour, Greens and POLICE and unfotunently we should inlcude the SWP as well in that.

This our Chanc don't destroy it by allowing the police to look like the good guys again.

We must prove that we can control our protests and keep it peaceful.

if anything is trown at the speakers police, They will baton charge us again. This time nobody will support us because we statred it.

Our movement is on the verge on entering a new stage mass public support and it will be needed if we really want to end child labour, less cars, Coruption, No sellfield, Anti Globalisation.

And for Gods sake nobody buy anything from the SWP please.

something that works VERY well is to invest a few € in fake blood (joke shops,Dolier St,just around corner from trinity),if it kicks off,or even if it doesnt, squirt a load of it on your head, let it dribble down your face, then make your self visable to press, even 10 people, female even better, can give media field day .

""Speakers will include representatives of the Irish Council of for Civil Liberties, trade unions, the Green Party, the Labour Party and the Socialist Workers' Party" Let's bring plenty of pies!"

I read this as "let's pie all the speakers" too!!
I also think think that pie throwing could very easily be seen as an act of violence by anybody on the receiving end so maybe you should reconsider this??

Let's bring plenty of pies. It's not violent action to throw a few pies and we'll make the point.

This is quite funny. Princess Grace of Monopolise Resistance lines up a load of politicians as speakers and then suggests pieing them would be a "provocation"! Perhaps she does not get that the people who attend RTS are the people who pie politicians rather then lick up to them! The provocation is asking these clowns along!!

despite this fairly clumsy attempt at provocation for tonights demo, just wanted to let people know that the Globalise Resistance group organising the demo are meeting today at 5pm at the gates of Trinity college.
Can anyone who is willing to help out in planning exactly how the demo will go off and take part in stewarding or media teams etc. meet us there at that time.
It looks like tonights demonstration is going to be very big and we want to make sure there are no opportunities for the Gardai to provoke hostility from the crowd and get arrests.
Could anyone who would like to speak at the demo itself aswell give me a ring or come to the organising meeting to make sure we leave enough time for everyone.
see you later
Thanks,
Grace
