news report

One of the biggest national protests against inequality took place in Ireland yesterday - the problem is, there's a war on! Despite close on 140,000 claimed school pupils, their parents and the teachers of over 140 school walked out on the streets of Ireland yesterday, mainstream media coverage was scant. The Irish Times gave it inside coverage, the Examiner gave a background piece and the online version of RTE's news do not even mention that over 100,000 people marched out of their 'work'place yesterday. It is not only mainstream media coverage which is lacking however. The lack of coverage on Indymedia's newswire service is also notable. Despite struggles taking place aborad, many are content to let this pass as if nothing happened and many of those concerned with stopping injustice away from home seem unconcerned when such injustices are closer to home.
