Ramadan has begun in Londonistan. It's another sign of how Islam is encroaching on Western culture, says Tim Dieppe. It's a long time since critics of any other religion were imprisoned. But don't you dare insult Islam!

How the arabs can win - just dont use the dollar

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Sunday March 23, 2003 00:37author by bobs yer uncle Report this post to the editors

dont give your wealth to the US

when will the arabs realise that all they have to do is stop selling their oil for dollar$ and they will hurt america more than even nuking them could!

Its a very powerful tactic and will effectively turn the dollar into toilet paper. And now for the first time in history they have an alternate currency to the $$ in the Euro.

By quoting and selling their oil exclusively in dollar$ they are helping the USA economy and its military etc.
But since the Euro has come into operation they have the power to stop the US dead without any violence.

In 2000 Sadam changed over to selling oil for Euros and will not accept dollars. He also changed 10 billion dollars Iraq had the bank into Euros and made a nice profit for himself since the Euro is getting stronger.

OPEC could do this and so could Chavez. Norway and the UK could adopt the same policy too. Suddenly there would be loads of dollars that noone wants and the currency and the US economy would crash. And they certainly couldnt afford to send an army to Iraq and drop bombs that cost half a million each.

Talk about spending power over fire power!

Shazam!

The $ is backed by the B 52 bomber and has soared since the B 52s started bombing Baghdad.

like the leaders of the arab countries actually give a flying fuck about the people of iraq.

they only thing they care about is keeping their populations onside, and if this means various anti-american gestures every now and then then they are willing to to undertake this.

syria even voted for 1441 for fucks sake, and they knew that it would lead to what it has.

even castro has adopted the dollar.

all power to the dollar.

or alternatively we could organise society along socialist lines and give hope agus inspiration to the oppressed masses of the world.

be realistic, demand the impossible.

On one view, the attack on Iraq is not just about oil, but about the petrodollar. It is, at least in part, about reducing the likelihood that OPEC will switch its oil sales denomination from the dollar to the euro, with precisely the consequences you predict for the US economy.

A US controlled Iraq can be expected to sharply increase its oil production. The OPEC quota system will be sorely strained by the corresponding drop in prices. Should any one of its members exceed the quota, the cartel starts to fall apart.

Once the US has reasserted its status as the global military power in the region,
it can exert pressure over any individual state which threatens to switch to the euro.

Even if this analysis is correct, however, the strategy is a risky one for the US. It remains to be seen precisely what OPEC will do.

Isn't a large motivation for the war in Iraq now because there were threats to begin trading Iraqi oil in Euros?
This would also explain why france and germany are so opposed to the war and why Britain have no problem supporting America
