Shannon Peace Camp back up and running![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Keep disrupting business as usual in Shannon Airport! Campaigners from the Tralee Anti-War group came to Shannon today to restart the Shannon Peace Camp, bearing witness to this insane and immoral war as it passes through Ireland to Iraq. They hope people from around the country will come to Shannon Airport and join the ad-hoc initiative in a spirit of nonviolence and solidarity. Today they met with Connor from the Shannon Peace House, and were shown around the area for places to set-up camp. They’re camped opposite the old site, which was today cordoned off with tall metal fencing. Please come and support if you can. Just come on over. Call the Shannon Peace House on 061-365871 for info or visit http://www.shannonpeacecamp.org/ The area is swarming with gardai. Police surveillance has reached the point where we can leave the front door of the Peace House wide open and go away for the day, safe in the knowledge that it is being monitored constantly by Co. Clare’s finest. :-) Seriously though, when power is unmasked it never looks nice, and the swarming police, soldiers, fences and razor wire are just that. |

Great stuff. If anyone knows anything more about this or who's organising it could they post something up here. Brilliant to see the Shannon Peace Camp set up again.
THe walk is expected to reach ennis tonight and will continue on to shannon airport tomorrow, leaving ennis at 10 am. Please join either in ennis, at shhanon or along the way.
it was announced at the Galway protest that the peace march would leave Ennis from the O Connell monument in the square at 10am. Nuria Dunne from Iraq told all at the Galway demo about it and with her daughter, was one of those who began the march yesterday. Many more were proposing to join by today and tomorrow.
It's great that the new Peace Camp draws attention to the anti-traveller legislation, which decrees a mobile home/camp must move every 24 hours. Best of luck with your non-violent witness against our complicity in mass slaughter of the innocent and facilitation of technology created to perpetuate the innocent's suffering.

Fantastic news about the Peace March. It reminds me of a very beautiful woman who brought the Iraqi plight to our attention during Eoin Dubsky's trial.
Some of you may remember Farah from the US who participated in a 400 km peace walk in Iraq last year and spoke at some of the Anti-War rallies.
She gave a deeply compassionate testimony on the sufferings of the Iraqi peoples, due to the effects of cruel economic sanctions and depleted uranium(radioactive waste) on the health and general welfare of the population.
Congratulations to all who participated; especially to Nuria and family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and all your loved ones.
In peaceful loving solidarity,
Damien
peace be with ye all.
My thoughts are with the Marines and 7th Cav who are out fighting for the freedom of World, and the Iraqui people. They are also fighting for the peace camp wasters so that they can sleep safely by their camp fires.
our thoughts are also with the Marines, Army and all the other military who have been brainwashed into thinking they are fighting for freedom.
I hope they wake up, put down their guns and come back to their families and friends, sorry that they took part in the slaughter of Iraqi people and visiting terror upon them which we are unlikely to see in full on TV.
Our thoughts are foremost with the innocent people of Iraq. caught between a dime-a-dozen regional scumbag like Hussein and a collosal tyrant like Bush.
They talk of freedom while the freedom to walk in a public place and express your opinion is curtailed in my country.
People are arrested / assaulted for taking photographs, harrassed for protesting, followed everywhere they go for telling the truth.
Yeah, George Bush, champion of freedom and justice.
Oh Jesus.Peace Campers are coming back to Shannon.I bet the US is shitting itself thinking about it.Nah they have more important things to do like bombing the fuck out of the republican gaurd and others who would oppress and kill the iraqi people, something which you free-loading bleeding hearts are more than happy to let do.Where would the world be today if the British had chossen to ignore the 3rd Reich back 1939.There comes a time when the world must say to despots like Hussien that enough is enough. He had 12 years to disarm and now The Us and the Uk have taken it upon themselves to do that job.My thoughts are with the British and American forces (who are helping to protect my and let us not forget your rights to life liberty and free speech )and the ordinary civilians of iraq.May Allah,Krishna and/or Jesus keep them safe.
Ignore the trolls. Fair play to you- this is great news. The peace camp and the various direct actions focussed attention on the misuse of Shannon by the state and the US during the build up to the war. Otherwise it would of been a half-forgotten demand at the bottom of drab political posters. Keep up the good work.
Is it possible for anyone to disagree with the bloody status quo without being branded a "troll" or even a secret police agent?
It's well possible that he might believe in what he wrote. Is he not entitled to that?
I see the second peace camp in shannon didnt last too long, maybe ye actually figured it out that the local shannon people dont want ye here
