Royal Irish ready for the word to go

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Thursday March 20, 2003 22:43author by rooster Report this post to the editors

All so that the southern Irish can sleep soundly under the blanket of protection provided by Northern troops.

The Royal Irish Regiment has been moved towards the front line this evening on the Kuwait/Iraq border (source: UTV). Over 80 members of the unit are men from the Republic of Ireland. Lets hope they all return home to Ireland safe and sound in a few weeks. Its good to see some of our fellow citizens defend our freedom.

We will support our troops when they turn their guns on their officers. Ask children in West belfast and the Falls who protects them?, who shoots innocent catholic children in the back with plastic bullets, YOU DO PARA SCUM.

I am grateful that the Royal Irish wasters are sent in first, those bunch of mammies boy tossers are great landmine detectors.

The word "bastards" is probably accurate in both meanings of the word.

Interestingly, going back to the First World War and beyond the Irish were typically always sent into battle first - or at least to the more lethal areas of any given scenario.

As most people are aware, during the 1970's and 80's Irish in the UK were subject to the same prejudices, invective and general racism as the islamic community are facing now.

Given our (recent) history I find it dissappointing (but not surprising) that the government considers the US and UK our "closest allies".

Has our temporary grasp of a few very transient dollars made us forget the last few decades? The US-centric process of globalisation as a whole renders smaller nations something like satellite states - too dependant economically on the US to take contrary political positions. As has been demonstrated today.

What about Irish prejudice against the Brits, as evidenced by this thread and a few others? Talk about whining hypocrisy...

Finbar, I don't recall ever seeing any signs here saying "no english need apply".

Finbores right, I agree with him, second rate Royal irish dredges should be sent in first, pseudo irish mongrels are expendable. Why sacrifice true blue pure blood brits, when we can get rif of irish mongrels.

The fact that you can't all admit your prejudice against the Brits, and yet you would jump up and down and wave your arms and scream every time something anti-Irish is said in the UK, shows how pathetic you are. When you're really put on the spot, you resort to satire, which is even more pathetic.

Why not try joining the human race?

what planet are you from? are you unaware of the uneven relationship which has existed between the two islands for the last 800 yrs?
