Whats happened in these men's case is similar, they were in Colombia on a purely innocent fact finding mission. Farc would not have compromised their safety or security by allowing them to participate in any guerilla activity.

My boyfriend is a Farc guerilla, I am from Belfast. Because of the current emergency situation in Colombia, with the Junta offensive, the only time I get to spend with him is in the jungle, because he cannot get leave. As a foreign national civillian, I am not allowed by Farc to be armed or carry weapons, or participate in any armed combat with the junta. I am there purely as a neutral international observer, these steps are for my own protection and guarantee me safe passage home, in event of apprehension by the junta.
