Cork Fianna Fail office picket by anti-war protesters

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Saturday March 15, 2003 14:04author by Cork Anti-War Campaignauthor email corkantiwar at hotmail dot com Report this post to the editors

A group from the Cork Anti-War Campaign picketted the regional headquarters of Fianna Fáil in Cork's Grand Parade today (Saturday) in protest at the government's complicity in the US led war against Iraq and in particular to object vocally against the refuelling of US military aircraft at Shannon and the granting of overflights for military aircraft.

Excellent work Cork Ani-War. This is the real meaning of direct action and one that is very hard for Fascist Minister McDrool to mass riot police against!

But where were the brave FF brothers and sisters? When is Minister Martin at home? Minister Joe Walsh in Clonakilty? Anyone know?

Lets picket the bastards at their homes, their Dail offices, Cheltenham, hospitality tent at the Galway races and in the cocaine sniffing pubs of south Dublin where they take bungs off bloated property developers.

Yes, Minister Martin was meant to be present giving his weekly 'clinic', but he obviously shagged off for the weekend. Funny thing about politicians is they take a holiday at the drop of a hat. Aw sure, don't they work terribly hard!

We'll be back!!!

sure its hard work making a pigs ear of the health service, cutting funding all around is a tiring job i imagine, let the poor fellow jet off to some far flung exotic location at the expense of the tax payer so he can be fit and ready to get to work on the next round of health dervice wrecking!

Is it my imagination or are the little knots of protesters dwindling by the day?

Looks like resignation has set in for the moderates.

I can't quite figure out what Josef means because it makes no sense in the Cork context. We had 4,000 on a march through the city centre last Saturday. The picket on FF was not advertised in any real sense and those who turned up (between 25 and 30) are directly involved with the Cork Anti-War Campaign. A mass mobilisation was not attempted because the focus is now on Day X and a march thru the city on the following Saturday.

So, yeah, your concern is a bit misplaced. The anti-war goes on!
