US Corporate Vampires gather over Iraq

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Tuesday March 11, 2003 10:48author by James McKenna Report this post to the editors

Plans for Iraqi 'reconstruction'

The Wall St Journal has reported that reconstruction contracts initially valued at over one billion dollars (€850) have been awarder to five American Mega-Corporations.

* Halliburton Kellogg, Brown-Root

*Bechtel Group

*Fluor Corp

*Louis Berger Group

*Parsons Corp

The "reconstruction" will be paid for by the Iraqi people and their oil supplies. Presumably costs will be inflated beyond belief . Makes you wish these Corporate Empires had their offices in the Twin Towers, doesn't it?

I think on this side of the pond we foret how damn big these corporations are. They are truly Corporate Empires who care nothing for Society or human suffering. Profit is the top and bottom line and "greed is good".

See the Beast that drives the Bush and his Christian Soldiers? A great machine/monster with an impetus and will of it's own. Nothing in common with decent human values or what is good for people. Their Empires contain everything from cement factories to Government services and media groups so they can better control the world. Let us all be in awe of their great buildings and their might!

Good call there! We all must buy shares in these companies if they're getting the 1st slice of the Iraqi pie!

As a simple form of protest against the American Machine may I suggest a boycott of US goods?

We all know the obvious ones like N1ke, Levi$, C0ke etc

Consider also Micro$soft products.

If you are using Internet Explorer why not change to the wonderful Opera Browser (www.opera.com).

Switch from M$ Office to OpenOffice (www.openoffice.org)

Boycott films produced by US studios.

Avoid purchasing music from US studios - download, burn and distribute instead!

Avoid purchasing Disney products for your kids.

Boycott Californian Wine.

Do what you can. Do it Today.

Spread the word.

Hit them where it hurt$.

Who needs to disseminate red propaganda when the Wall Street Journal, no less, is making it blatantly obvious what the Iraq war is about?

Yes. Oil does seem to be the pot of gold at the end of the....

I'll pass on that.
But...

This war is hardly driven by those 5 construction/engineering/consumer goods corporations.

Look to the Banking System!!! Please!!! We've all got such a knack for researching. But the oil and the unsatiable consumerism are not the missing links!

It's global debt, and the US (and its corporations) will soon find itself a victim to the debt bomb.

The IMF is the gatekeeper. The international bankers call the shots. It's been the same since money was invented. The wars, the fossil fuels, the pokemon insanities; they're just means to an end: prevention of bankruptcy.

The US is hurtling towards bankruptcy, and its hunt for oil is a desparate search for a way to prevent financial collapse. The Drug war is a hunt for currency lost in underground currents. this is simpler than no blood for oil.

No blood money.

I agree these companies are far from the totality of the "Machine" that is , as George Bush Snr called it, the new world order.

The IMF and others as you say are part of it. Indeed education systems, religious establishments and even popular culture can be also see as manisfestations and pillars of what is really just and idea. An idea of supremacy and injustice.

Talking in such vague terms leaves one open to the first ridicule of, "you talking about conspiracy theory", so it is necessary to "give relevant examples"!
