'They went back on their word' Arrestees at Shannon airport on 12th of October march are triyng to find each other to build their case and find legal representation to meet the summons for the 27th of March. Arrestees at Shannon airport on 12th of October march are triyng to find each other to build their case and find legal representation to meet the summons for the 27th of March. As the Gardai went back on their word on the fence of not pressing charges against arrested people at the mass tresspass, it would be needed to coordinate our legal actions. We are looking to get in touch with each other before 27th of March when we have been summoned to court, and we would need also support from people that were also inside the fence and at the other side of the fence. The court case will be at the Shannon court on the 27th of March. |

The five Cork people have been summonsed for March 20th. Charges of trespass 4 and Criminal damage 2.
We are meeting up on Tuesday. I'll make phone contact with ye on Monday anyhow.
what are you being charged with??
Hi,
What you did was wonderful and important too! Don't be upset that the police lied to you. You can continue your witness through the court system now, exposing injustice and corruption.
First thing to do is decide whether you want a solicitor to act on your behalf I guess. If you do then look in the phone book or ask around. If you'd like to represent yourself or refuse to cooperate with the court system, it still isn't a bad idea to get legal advice from a lawyer first anyways.
Read your charge(s) carefully. Common Law defences are ones that you can use against almost every criminal charge. They can be available to you even if there's a case of "strict liability" (i.e. you either did it or not, like in the Airport By-laws).
Look-up a book on Irish Criminal Law in your library for details about the defence of necessity and 'duress of circumstance' (which is a kind of necessity). To see how these have been used in Scotland for anti-nuke actions see: http://www.tridentploughshares.org/legal/
Adam Conway kindly made a transcript of my Shannon Airport USAF Hercules action trial, which you can find here: http://www.gluaiseacht.org/legal/DubskysTrial.html
...If you're up for "Criminal Damage" you may want to take pieces from this case for your day in court.
Forming an affinity group would be a good idea too. Get together with people who can support you, prepare for your trial together and plot future actions too. :-)
