Hunter,

DIY, didn't mean just you, obviously you actually posted.

QUOTE:
all the hard work and hours put in by the sp/swp/isn even the workers party are all irrelevant in the face of the almighty truth of 'liberatarian socialism'.
ANSWER:
nonesense, you do them a disservice. The SWP has been highly effective in supporting New Labour in the UK and that's been just great for the workers hasn't it? Furthermore you managed to help the State media seriously reduce the numbers at the Shannon NVDA and that's good isn't it?

QUOTE:
all this non-party bullshite spouted by anarchists is destined to failure - the 'people' will not suddenly realise that they need to throw off the yoke of capitalism and overthrow the state.
ANSWER:
and where is the anarchist position paper that says this is going to happen hunter? That sounds like Leninist projection to me. Put up or shut up.

QUOTE:
personally i'll wait for the new 'mass workers party'
ANSWER:
is that the one where the 'people' suddenly realise that they need a mass workers party to throw off the yoke of capitalism and overthrow the state? Nice one.

QUOTE:
(along with the sparts). meanwhile the organised working class will be taking the fight forward.
ANSWER:
given that anarchists have been part of the organised working class I look forward to defending your free-thinking from the next Leninist purge Comrade Hunter.

Your post is such a farrago of plus-truth and un-lie that I'll do you a favour and assume that you were drunk when you wrote it. Anarchists come in many flavours, many of them believe in some form of organisation. Historically you'll see that many of them have been involved in mass-peoples-organisations that were succesful in fighting Capitalists and fascists. The mistake they made was assuming solidarity from the Reds.

The simple reason that the GNAW stuff got more coverage is that more people have posted accounts, photos and video covering about it. I wrote the feature (well, actually I just added to someone elses proposal), and at the time there was very little stuff covering the IAWM demo. I'm updating the feature tomorrow so as soon as the techies get some time you should see a new version up, with all the photos, accounts that cover the IAWM stuff.

Its a shame that more people on the IAWM march didn't send their stuff into Indynmedia earlier, that doesn't make it an anarchist conspiracy however. No-one deleted any IAWM stuff, its not like people were prevented from posting or anything. (I'm politely going to decline from commenting on the rest of your paranoid anti anarchist bullshit...)

Features are usually repostings of newswire articles, or a compilation of postings(like the one i did). Features get written because someone thinks that something needs to be covered. I tried to make sure that the demos in shannon got covered, if you'd like to write a feature (and i think the schools demos should definatly be covered) then subscribe to the editorial list, propose one and just do it. Don't sit around bitching that you don't get enough coverage. DO IT YOURSELF!!!

author by hunterpublication date Sat Mar 08, 2003 02:23author address author phone Report this post to the editors

meanwhile, the coverage on indymedia of the shannon demo (including pictures) has been oh so full of pics and coverage of the iawm march hasnt it? far as i can see such coverage has been limited to my own report from the iawm demo and not much else.

and then we have the 1000s of school students (in ireland and all over europe) who came out against war on iraq not meriting a feature on the main page. despite the fact that this action far outwieghs the the action of the gnaw down in shannon - (in my opinion anyway).

i wonder if this has anything to do do with the fact that the school students action was organised by (ahem) 'leninoids' and not the "irish peace lovers, self actualizers yet socially responsible united network" (you know who you are! -must thank my friend from the states for that description).

talk all you want about either socialist parties in this country, but you gotta face it, they can at least organise things. and i saw some some comment on the newswire that basically said "any loss we suffered was better than any victory gained through any central committee" - what a pile of shite. this shows the complete arrogance of this poster (and i imagine he has many sympathisers). of course, any victory for the working class must come from anarchists for it to be considered valid. all the hard work and hours put in by the sp/swp/isn even the workers party are all irrelevant in the face of the almighty truth of 'liberatarian socialism'. much as i would like to disagree, revolutionary parties are needed to change this world, and while i may never join one (and that is a choice i make) i can't criticise either the swp or the sp for their belief in this. on the other hand, all this non-party bullshite spouted by anarchists is destined to failure - the 'people' will not suddenly realise that they need to throw off the yoke of capitalism and overthrow the state. this is impossible (much as i'd like to believe it wasn't). personally i'll wait for the new 'mass workers party' till i get involved in any party. but even when this party is formed, the anarchists will still be on the sidelines going on about 'leaders' and 'sowing illusions' (along with the sparts). meanwhile the organised working class will be taking the fight forward.

... I would continue to campaign for the lifting of sanctions against the Iraqi people the way I have done for 10 years.

My comments about the illegal actions of the Irish gov't at Shannon being the cause of the cost are very valid. If the US weren't allowed to be there then the cost of policing the protests would go away too. It's a kind of magic!

Anyone else think it is weird that both the SP photos (http://www.geocities.com/syucdpics/shannon/ ) and these SWP ones show the fence and the lines of riot cops but seem unwilling to show what they were facing?

If you really cared about the Iraqis, you would put your point across in a way that's less likely to alienate people. The vast majoirty ofpeople in Ireland are still in favour of this planned "dethronement".

These sort of thrilling self publicising escapades in a confrontational style (a la Caoimhe Butterly) may make for a great day out but you must realise that it alienates most people. When they see all the gardai needed to keep smacht on ye, they are likely to dismiss your views completely.

So, in truth, I think your bleatings about "blood money" and the fate of the Iraqi people are at best, insincere.

"Thses [sic] fence knockers should be charges with wasting police time. This has cost the State a lot of money, you can make your point in more constructive ways."

Should they? Does it really? Well, that money comes straight out of the bllod money paid to Ireland by the US government! If the US troops weren't using the warport then the protestors wouldn't be there (they could concentrate on sorting out domestic issues) and the cost of policing wouldn't be there would it?

Think about your comments before posting and give people some credit !!!!
