offsite link The Cheap Talk of Emmanuel Macron Thu Mar 06, 2025 12:37 | Noah Carl
Macron claims that Russia is an ?existential threat? to Europe. Yet his actions belie this. France has given Ukraine 12 times less aid than Denmark. And it's still importing billions of euros of Russian energy.

Disney has scrapped plans to hold a star-studded UK premiere of its new Snow White movie over fears of an anti-woke backlash against the troubled live action remake of its 1937 animated classic.

The BBC has run a story claiming UK spring temperatures are up 1.8?C. It's alarmist agitprop straight from a Green Blob press release and it doesn't check out when you look at the facts, says Chris Morrison.

The Javaad Alipoor Company is a theatre company with a woke "nine-point manifesto that drives everything we do". Inevitably, the Arts Council is stuffing it with taxpayers' cash. Why do we fund this crap?

I remember my father getting one of them last year. I remember him asking me should he buy one! I told him where he should shove it! They were a fair bit more last year I think.

Now how can Michael McDowell condemn this site as "garbage" as he did so on Radio One on Saturday. The site is advertising his fundraising drive!

...do you know of any link where I might be able to hear/read McDowell referring to Indymedia as garbage.

Nice one for the link Graham.

Don't worry MG, Michael D was at hand in the studio with him to shut him up!

But I think it can only be a good thing if the site is stirring up provocation like this from the highest established quarters, for it shows that the site is having an impact and becoming widely known. Hopefully Michael & others will learn that this site is their's as much as it is anyone else's, and learn to be the media rather than to criticise it, as Graham put very well in an earlier comment, Link:-

... That right-wing PD storm trooper is really starting to get on everyone's nerves.

I work in a national newsroom and McDowell is regarded as one of the most ignorant and obnoxious interviewees a journalist could face.

His decision to smear indymedia is part of the PD pro-war campaign and must be seen as connected to Harney's slur on anti-war protestors, who have more integrity than that cow has in her entire ample body.

First prize is a night out with the beautiful Mary Harney.I've bought 10 already.

Well the PD's are as right wing as your gonna get in Ireland (at least in mainstream politics anyhow!) so youv'e got to expect constant crap from them. Interesting what you say about McDowell. I think his attempted smear on Indymedia will only back fire on him though. I would love if Indymedia approached him on the issue, of if people started e-mailing him various articles from the site and ask him to explain exactly how they mount to "Garbage".

I know a girl who works in Mary Harney's office, and apparently she does work her, fat, arse off, so I'll give her that! It wasn't long ago when the party was close to extinction. Let's hope it won't be too long before they are facing that again. Don't know what Liz O'Donnell is doin' with that party. Guess the alternative ain't too much better...

Heard her on the Vincent Browne Show last night. They were talking about the talks in the North and she was far more rabidly right-wing than Stephen King of the UUP.

However you disagree with people, calling them 'scum' or a 'cow' isn't doing your point of view any favours. And what has Mary Harney's weight got to do with her ideas?

Respect.

author by MGpublication date Thu Mar 06, 2003 10:55author address author phone Report this post to the editors

Mary Harney attempted to take my principled opposition to war and turn it into something to be ashamed of: anti-Americanism. This was done on purpose to blacken the good name of the thousands of Irish people who are working to avoid a massacre of human beings in Iraq.

Harney supports war because it makes profit for her friends and colleagues. She obviously couldn't give a flying fuck about the thousands who will die just so some rich people can make more money. She is a cow and I will continue to refer to her as one, regardless of what you think.

author by Seaninpublication date Thu Mar 06, 2003 10:58author address author phone Report this post to the editors

Who are you to claim you know Harney's motives. I'm for the war and I have nothing to gain. Is it only people on the left who are able to have a principled stance?

author by Anonymouspublication date Thu Mar 06, 2003 11:04author address author phone Report this post to the editors

Yes you are right on that "me". I'm sure people, including myself, were just letting off steam, as that party's views are scary at times. As I say, I know from personal accounts that Harney works very hard so I'll giver her that much.

Ref. Liz O'Donnell - You are no doubt right on that too Mags. I have probably paid her opinions far too much respect in the past. After all, if she was any good, despite the poor alternatives, what is she doing with that party?

author by XXXpublication date Thu Mar 06, 2003 13:25author address author phone Report this post to the editors

It is a gross insult to the bovine community to compare Mary Harney with a cow.

author by Yokes Are Great - Nonepublication date Thu Mar 06, 2003 13:53author address author phone Report this post to the editors

She's married to a protestant. Which probably accounts for her attitudes.

I was at a dinner party with heronce and she remarked that northern Catholics have to be watched.

Fuk, if McDowell see's this posting he'll have so much grass to chew on, he'll even put Harney's grass chewing feats to shame! Sorry "Me"!

author by Magspublication date Sun Mar 09, 2003 20:09author address author phone Report this post to the editors

My cousin is married to a Protestant, and neither of them have views approaching those of Liz O Donnell or the PDs. Neither do other people I know who are from Protestant backgrounds.

People should be wary of falling into the Unionist trap of assigning political views to people based on their religion.
