Itineray details of the delegation are available on www.derossa.com

Proinsias De Rossa to lead MEP discussions with Kofi Annan, Hans Blix, Mary Robinson and leading US politicians on Iraq

On Monday (3 March) Proinsias De Rossa will jointly lead a peace delegation of more than 20 members of the European Parliament for high level discussions on Iraq at the United Nations, and with leading US politicians.

As a follow-up to their recent visit to Iraq the delegation will meet Mr Kofi Annan, Secretary General of the United Nations, UN Security Council officials, and Mary Robinson. They will also meet leading US politicians, including Senator Edward Kennedy and Nancy Pelosi, Democratic leader in the House of Representatives.

The delegation will present an Anti-War appeal to Kofi Annan, members of the Security Council, American legislators and the US government. The Anti-War Appeal has already been signed by more than 300 Parliamentarians, including Mr De Rossa and all members of the Irish Parliamentary Labour Party. The Anti-War Appeal calls on all Members of the UN and particularly on those voting in the UN Security Council to:

PREVENT THE WAR ON IRAQ
NEGOCIATE A GLOBAL PEACE PLAN FOR THE MIDDLE EAST
PROMOTE FURTHER STEPS OF WORLDWIDE DISARMAMENT
STRENGTHEN UN CAPACITIES FOR CONFLICT PREVENTION AND NON-VIOLENT CONFLICT RESOLUTION

He may have a "vendetta" against Rabbitte, but on this at least he is correct. Labour aren't against war. They are for war with a UN rubber stamp.

His corpse couldn't rot because he was cremated. As a certain song go "The ashes of this rebel voice are still too hot to touch".

The leader of the Labour Party, Rabbitte, is on record as saying that the war is justified if its backed by the U.N. Security Council. The U.S. is busy bribing and bullying the Security Council to pass the so-called 2nd resolution. So according to the Labour Party if the U.S bribery and coercion succeeds the war is moral and just. At least the Greens McKenna has objected to this dishonesty. But the position of De Rossa and Rabbitte is unprincipled and dishonest. Its the same position as Aherne.
