They were mother and daughter and were often at loggerheads with each other (i.e. fighting!) One day Stumpy disappeared and we think, having heard through the grapevine, that some family who found her, adopted her due to the fighting?
but I wish I did.
Anyone know what happened to Stumpy?

I worked on the original excavation (Dir: Mark Clinton) in Carrickmines for a year. There were two stray dogs, one with a limp, one without. The one with the limp was named 'Stumpy'. The one without the limp, referred to above as 'Polly', was called 'Non-stumpy'.
Yes, they're stupid names. But I thought, in the interests of public knowledge, that this should be added to the newswire post.
