News Update

Wed 29th
Greens walk out of dail and government state their position re shannon: Bertie says that they will review the FF deal with US if the US take unilateral action and war begins. They will review the situation when it's too late. Certainly too late tor the human shields in Bagdad as the cruise missiles rain in and hopefully not too late for US and Irish citizens in this country who are at risk as Ireland is no way and no longer seen as nuetral.
As a result of breaches of security at shannon airport and as a result of the US Embassy's statement (to all the 90,000 US citizens in Ireland to be ready for immediate evacuation with respect to potential terrorist attacks against them in Irelan), it is possible that the Gardai will ask for the Irish Army to base themselves at Shannon in their efforts to increase security at the airport. At the moment the Gardai say that no request to the Irish Army has been made for this support.
US troops were clearly seen moving through the terminals as a troop and munitions carrier was refueling this afternoon. The Irish government denied that their were either troops or munitions on this plane.
TV3 News' first report on the 5.30 disclosed the US embassy's new statement and asked the question at last that if the US are making their citizens ready for evacuation from Ireland then why aren't Fianna Fail recognising the glaring threat of terrorist attack against Irish citizens as was experienced in Bali recently!

but it's not - message came to American Citizens in ireland (via the US Embassy in Dublin) from the State Dept in Washington DC

i remember writing a weekly review thingy once with the criteria for citizen recall as the starting lines.

If there are no people on the streets,
if there are tanks on the streets,
if the TV is not working.
etc.,

now the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (of the UK foreign affairs umbrella) also handles warnings for Irish citizens. It also co-ordinates with slight restricrions from two select commitees the budgeted beahviour of the Secret SErvices. known as SIS and MI5 CIS and CE.
It´s quite a busy world. lots of jobs some occasionally advertised in the Guardian.

Irish citizens are referred to the FCO for travel advice by the "Irish Government" website.

Irish Government is a local outfit located since 1922 in Dublin 1. They operate on a constitution which has lost its last rag of decency by rejecting neutrality. That is my personal opinion but one shared by most of my peers.

It was the FCO that gave the advice to British (and Irish) not to goto Venezueala (five days after I suggested it here).
The FCO often source their risk assesment on the US state dept especially if US investment and interest outweighs that of the Britannic umbrella.
Thus to keep the jesuitical nonsense going,

are Irish citizens to be advised to leave the country as well?
Or will this long endured silly diplomatic arrangement finally prompt a sort of "re-think" of the basic issues as regards Irish Foreign Affairs, the UK FCO and the US State Department.

My tophat is ready.
My morning suit is pressed.
My French is beau.
I splashed out yesterday on a Guardian and will make careful reference to it for a week, it is valued at 2.10€ which is the price of a packet of cigarettes. Today I visited Ignatius Loyola street and counted the murals and thought and thought. I have not smoked enough.

No smoke without fire.

I am trying my best to understand the modern British people and their long suffering neighbours the Irish who are best known in my beloved city as the openers of pubs like the Temple Bar.
a pint of guinness costs 4.20

there is too much of it.

This is a US State Department statement not publically released in Ireland but sent directly to US citizens here. I'll check out tv3 news now and try to have more details of what exactly it says.
