another journalist revealing that the Irish are unhappy with the USAF using Shannon?
another person taking credit.
yep.
He is the author of South Park.
and the bloke in photo two did the Simpsons.
This is nothing new. With nod and a wink from the Irish State US authorities regularly carry put surveillance on Irish protests. Camaras will be seen at the US embassey any time there are protests and don't forget that the US authorities have a pre-immigration facility at Shannon
The guy with the glasses represents the US Government, and is most probably from their department of defense. He looks just like a guy who checked my passport actually when I was heading for Boston through Shannon Airport a few years ago.
Pentagon said to Irish Sunday Mirror that for details about Shannon Airport they'd best check with "our man on the ground there".... Well now we've got him on tape!
Why would someone who checked your passport at immigration control when you were travelling to Boston (those nasty Americans providing an easy way to travel to their country! The cheek of them!) be someone who works for the DoD? Wishful thinking on your part, or are you so super important that when you travelled to Boston a few years ago, you were singled out and pulled aside by the DoD who checked your passport because of who you are and your politics?
Just because you are paranoid does not mean they are out to get you and you are not being really silly
My money is on the FBI . They are very active in Ireland since 1998 when Commish Byrne invited them to guide us meer Paddies in security matters... Like John Carty should have been shot sooner!
They are currently "advising" Minister Smith on his new version of military intelligence (G3) in an agency format, rather than as an accountable part of an official army. An Irish version of MI5 or the CIA , just what we need Minister Smith.
Some years back , as part of a "peace process" good will gesture Stella Remington, the head of MI5, disclosed that there were over 1000 MI5 agents working in Ireland ( region not specified), so how many Yanks do you think there are today ?
Also present at Shannon were members of the "Reds Squad" from harcourt Sq and The National Surveillance Unit from the Phoenix Park.
Nice to know Big Brother is watching us even if our American cousins "go free" to murder and steal.
Americans British and Russians had monitor stations at Shannon to watch Cuban refugees.
Howard Marks also made small reference in his Mr Nice to Shannon peculiarities.
He didn´t do Southpark! that was yerman at gatwick!
Yes the Evil Yanquis are all powerful, all knowing, almost superhuman, they must be defeated, they are everywhere watching everything quick Seamy get the Kryptonite!
This happened a few years back when Bill Clinton visited Derry. Some of his CIA goons attempted to interogate broad anti imperialist and IRSP protestors but were given short thrift. The diiference probably is that the RUC showed no outward signs of backing these americans up. They kept their distance but as always kept a close eye in case any incident happened.
In the end up it was an embarrasing day for Bill as he was heckled from start to finish and left the podium early as a result. Embarrased local digntaries on the stage were John Hume and Gerry Adams.
While my faith in TDs is very limited, I still think this should be raised in the Dáil. It might not get anywhere but at least more people would get to hear about it.

Having read the article and the views, it seems that some people are definitely over reacting. I still can remember Ireland in the 'poor old days' when the staple diet was bread, praties and a chicken once a week. We were happy for all the american cash then, direct and indirect.
If the US wish to render services to Ireland, in gathering intelligence, and it doesnt cost the, allready overburdened taxpayer, we should be grateful for it.
We are quick to forget the huindreds of good Irishmen and women that died on 9-11, and their sacrifice should not be in vain.
It wasnt that long ago that a muslim terrorist cell was picked up, just two hours north of Dublin, by the Northern Irish Police Service, which indicates that Irish Democracy is under threat as it is seen as a safe haven by those that would wreak havoc on the planet. The US may have erred in going into Iraq, but that should not prevent them from vetting those that go to the US, from Ireland (many of which make a healthy living out of doing so), or of protecting their President and officials when on Irish soil.
The US was founded by mixed nationallities, many of which are our forefathers and we should stand united with them in their time of need.
God bless Ireland and God Bless America
