George Harrison on Palestine

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Saturday April 20, 2002 04:54author by US Fenian Report this post to the editors

George Harrison, Patron of Sinn Fein Poblachtach and co-founder of Cumann na Saoirse Naisiunta in the US, issued the following statement on Palestine.

I wish to categorically condemn the savage and unhuman attack by the Zionist and Expansionist State of Israel on the Palestinian People. I salute Nurse Mary Kelly of County Cork, Ireland for traveling to Palestine to update us on the situation. She is a credit to Rebel Cork and to the heroic women who distinguish themselves in the centuries-old struggle for Irish Freedom.
Regarding the death at an advanced age of a member of British Monarchism. I have been bereaved many times during the course of a long life but never received any word of condolence from the British Monarchy. I return their silence now.

Signed GH
George Harrison
Brooklyn, New York
Formerly of
Shammer
Co. Mayo, Ireland

Patron
Republican Sinn Fein

Cop on US Feinan

What demented dribbling assylum have you staggered from, and wandered into a cybercafe to post this drivel.

Even the nonsense you're spouting, as for your Chomsky et all remark, they'd post a literate coherant anaylsis of events, rather than the small cheap remarks of a man who has no special insight but more is attempting to ride the shirt tales of these events and Mary's bravery to gain some creditiblity.

The attempt to co-op a peace activists as model to your movement is sickening.......

Indymedia is to be a source for suppressed information...I, personally, would take that to assume press releases. That has been the policy on most of the other Indymedia sites I've worked on and/or submitted to.

Mr. Harrison is a prominent figure in the anti-imperialist movement in the USA and a well-known figure in Republican circles. Many individuals are interested in his perspectives on issues of the day.

One wonders if the same objection would be raised if I posted an article by Chomsky, et. al. on the situation.

This is a press release. A press release. Not news, not editorial. I'd suggest a separate newsline, or topic, or area, for such material.

It would be an unfortunate practice if we were to mistake such things for news, and in my browsing, the opportunity to ignore unadulterated press releases would be greatly appreciated.

It also strikes me as rather pompous to post ones press release on the front page of a news site, or to have such a thing done.

A neck like a jockeys what?

Who said that?

Sectarian violence has risen to levels higher than during any time of "war" - the GFA provides peace only for the imperialists, while the ensuring that the Irish People are deprived of any defense.

Look at the Ardoyne - if that's your idea of a "successful peace process" you need to lay off the piss.

Grab a few historical facts, very true that US Imperialism is following pervious models, whack them around in your head far away from the reality and then bingo keep on blowing up Prods. RSF=Dangerous Space Cadets.

Israel learned the terror techniques it is using against the Palestinians from Britain. The destruction of dwellings, the stealing of land, the punishment of all for the deeds of the few,-all these are the techniques of imperial conquest developed in Ireland by Britain. And imperialism is still using Ireland as a laboratory. U.S. low intensity warfare was developed from British experience in its war against Ireland's freedom fighters. U.S. involvement in the Irish "peace process" has resulted in some of the Irish resistance movement becoming administrators of Anglo-American imperial interests in Ireland. But the Irish resistance continues to inspire, .. in Columbia, in Palestine,...Leave it to those who are willing...like the unconquerable George Harrison and his comrades. We hav'nt gone away you know.

Does the murder of Barney McDonald not qualify as military force (this time from the wrong end of a sawn off shotgun) trying to wreck the peace process? A leading republican has just been arrested for his murder. Do Sinn Féin support the peace or not?

Does Mr. Harrison condem the nationlist expansionary policy of his own political splinter? There's no miltary force trying to wreck the successful Northern peace process apart from the idiots that this man supports and their fellow yesterdays men in the UDA. Could you Mr. Harrison live in a peaceful world were everything didn't have to comply to your little secterian dream. Don't attempt to put your inability to accept peace on par with genocide against the Palestinian people.
