news report

Bairbre Flood was arrested back in April for pieing Bertie in Sligo. Last month she was sentenced to community service, but her case came up again yesterday, and was struck out. We have the blessing of the courts - its time to get baking! (here's the full report from the Indo) A WOMAN who struck Taoiseach Bertie Ahern with a custard pie last April, had her case struck out at Sligo District Court yesterday. |

if only we had more who were willing to carry out such actions, something might change. but all we have is those interested in discussing dogma, and revisiting rhetoric. the talk will continue, while the revolution is neglected...........
"You'll get pie in the eye when you lie"
The article (summary or pasted) does not explain why the judge struck out the case. Something about "public pronouncements" is referred to. What does this mean?
It looks like the case was struck out because of the remarks made by the judge after the case was over. I'm no lawyer, but perhaps they could have been used to argue that the trial was unfair?
Ray, I am very very disappointed that your idea of struggle is throwing pies, I doubt if the ruling elite are going to have sleepless nights.
"Down with the dictate of the [European] Union"
Bronislaw Geremek, the former minister of foreign affairs was pied two days ago in Szczecin when giving a talk about accession to European Union. The attackers from the "Pie International" (they are from FA-Szczecin) shouted "Down with the dictate of the Union".
Geremek is the son of a dog who signed Poland's accesion to NATO.
